TSI Incorporated Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Shoreview, Minnesota

Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager at TSI This position oversees the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group. This group manages the transition of new products from design engineering into manufacturing work centers. This includes BOM development, establishing routings, pilot build and validation of new products developed at TSI to ensure the products are production ready. What Will You Do? In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for: * Provide vision and leadership to the department and workforce in the areas of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and design for manufacturability. * Assure that standard work is documented and in place for manufacturing. * Work with manufacturing management, materials, planning, quality, and engineering to achieve optimal operational efficiency. * Maintain expertise on current best in-class manufacturing practices and technologies. * Ensure new products effectively and efficiently transitioned into manufacturing. * Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation. * Establish annual goals and objectives for the department to achieve alignment with company strategic goals. * Work cooperatively with other departments in addition to influencing decisions and outcomes that result in solid business practices for the company. * Set and communicate expectations for employees; monitor ongoing performance and give recognition when appropriate. Take corrective action when necessary. Conduct performance reviews in a timely manner for all members of the department. Recognize employees for performance which meets or exceeds objectives. * Identify cross training opportunities and implement wherever possible to expand employee skills and flexibility. * Coach and develop all employees as opportunities present themselves. * Utilize quality management techniques for problem solving, corrective action and process decisions. * Complete other assignments and special projects as requested. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has direct supervision responsibilities for a team of Assemblers, Engineers, and Technicians. * Responsible for establishing objectives, measuring and monitoring performance, and providing timely feedback regarding performance. * Conducts performance mid-year and annual reviews, provides feedback and makes recommendations regarding compensation, promotion, training, performance improvement plans, discipline and termination of individuals within the team. What Do You Need? Required * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or technical field. * 7 or more years' experience in engineering/manufacturing. * Knowledge of Basic Supervision and Leadership principles. Desired * Supervisory experience. * Experience with SAP. * Experience implementing best practices in a production environment. * Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles such as Six Sigma, LEAN Manufacturing, ISO, Quick Response Manufacturing, etc. Knoweldge, Skills & Abilities * Lean manufacturing practices. * Employee relations and supervision. * Policy and process development and continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting. * ERP/MRP and scheduling systems. * Manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures. * Effective leadership concepts.
