Job Summary
As part of Chartwells Higher Education, we have partnered with LSU Health to open a BRAND NEW dining facility at the Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA. We are seeking a creative EXECUTIVE CHEF to lead the culinary and catering dining experience for this exciting new adventure. You will be expected to maintain excellent relationships with employees, guests and the client, as well as other departments within the operation. Along side of your General Manager and Catering Manager, the leadership team will be responsible for promoting the professional growth and development of the entire food service operation. You will also foster strong interdepartmental relations and integrate the dining service department with the facility plan of operations.

It's the third-largest city in Louisiana and sits on the Red River, making it a vital cultural and economic hub for the region. Shreveport has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by its French, African, and Native American roots. The city has a thriving arts scene, with museums, theaters, and music festivals. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council and venues like the Strand Theatre offer opportunities for entertainment and cultural engagement. The city also has a tight-knit community with Southern hospitality. People are known for being friendly, and there are plenty of social events, fairs, and festivals throughout the year, such as the Red River Revel Arts Festival, Mardi Gras celebrations, and the Shreveport-Bossier City holiday parade. Entertainment-wise, the casinos are a big draw, offering both gaming and live performances. Shreveport also boasts a variety of parks, outdoor recreation opportunities along the Red River, and sports teams like the Shreveport Mudbugs and the Shreveport Mavericks!
Key Responsibilities:
Plans regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
Trains kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on Company and regulatory standards
Establishes and maintains cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
Maintains inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines while assuring that necessary product is available when needed
Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
Qualifications:
A.S. or equivalent experience
Three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
Extensive catering experience a plus
High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
ServSafe certified - highly desirable
