The Opportunity:
Manager II, Maintenance for the Extruder reports directly to the General Manager, Mill (Extruder) and has responsibility for a crew of hourly maintenance employees. The role manages the daily maintenance of the Silsbee converting facility to ensure the maintenance and process needs are efficiently identified, prioritized, and effectively optimized while operating within the cost control/budget that is established to maximize economic profit. The Manager II, Maintenance will also effectively manage the predictive and preventative process for the Silsbee converting facility.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Actively promotes and participates in all elements of the Safety Management System
Responsible for his/her own safety and for ensuring all maintenance personnel are aware of, and adhere to, the safety rules and policies
Review quality and production results daily to determine identifying trends that may lead to off quality if not addressed. Uses same reports to direct corrective actions. Updates maintenance portion of the production meeting.
Understands his/her role with respect to the Smurfit Westrock Quality Policy, Environmental Policy, and QMS responsibilities and applies these principles to resolving daily issues
Gathers and analyzes information to identify sources of machine downtime and quality issues. Works with the General Manager to identify probable causes and efforts to correct them as they arise
Works with the General Manager to ensure the work environment and facilities are maintained to assure product quality
Manage the maintenance needs by working with the General Manager to identify, prioritize, and efficiently optimize the scheduling of maintenance and outage work
Active member of call duty team
Responsible for the design, review and updating of the training material, specifically working with new equipment and vendors and/or Engineering when process changes occur.
Responsible for the development, design, and implementation of the maintenance training program
Manage maintenance employees in accordance with the Absenteeism-Tardy Control Guidelines
Assist in ensuring fair and consistent application of the hourly labor agreement
Attend and answer first step grievances for those that are maintenance related
Responsible for conducting business with integrity and respect, being accountable, and actively pursuing excellence to help achieve Smurfit WestRock\u2019s Path to One goal.
What you need to succeed:
High School diploma or G.E.D. required with a 2- or 4-year technical degree preferred
5 years of mechanical maintenance, supervisory/planning, analytical, and problem-solving experience
Strong leadership skills and a team player
Familiar with a Computerized Maintenance Management System; SAP a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization
Demonstrated successful track record of effective problem-solving
Possess strong collaboration skills with stakeholders across functions
Ability to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time
Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills
Minimal travel may be required
