Summary

The Engineering Development Technicians Supervisor will have the opportunity to supervise a team of Engineering Development Technicians in the work on a variety of advanced unmanned system prototypes to develop solutions for a variety of defense and commercial applications. One manages work schedules for the Technician Team and tasking

Position Responsibilities

  • Manages work schedules for the Technician Team and tasking

  • Helps manage team size and skill sets to be consistent with workloads and skill set requirements

  • Coordinates subassembly builds to meet schedule and schedule changes across all Business Areas

  • Establishes Engineering Technician work priorities and procedures

  • Responsible for final quality control and documentation of work performed

  • Leads meetings on status, issues and project schedule

  • Works with other functions such as Production, Test and Evaluation, and Purchasing to constantly seek improvements to the build process

  • Responsible for maintaining engineering labs and Engineering equipment needs

  • Authorizes and approves time charges and conducting personnel development

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and goals and the process by which to meet goals

  • Provides direction to Technicians according to established policies and management guidance

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Minimum 5+ years in manufacture, assembly and flight test of UAS aircraft systems

  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience effectively leading and supervising product build teams

  • Requires general proficiency with Microsoft Office Software and general computer skills

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

  • Possesses strong large scale composite knowledge or aerospace/UAV systems

  • Possesses fundamental knowledge in electrical and mechanical systems

  • Must have ability to analyze and solve problems; Must be able to handle technician resource issues in a timely manner as they arise

  • Experience working with manufacturing systems, processes and procedures

  • Must be able to support travel and deployments of minimum two week increments (Frequent)

  • Periods of development may require long irregular hours around deadlines, weekends and some holidays and in field test environments

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • BS or equivalent technical degree is desired

  • Experience working with composites, either wet layup or prepreg materials, is desired

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees in the Company

Physical Demands

  • Requires manual dexterity and ability to effectively use machining tools, both manual and automated (Occasional)

  • Ability to move and/or carry heavy equipment (Occasional)

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, both hot and cold, and varying terrains (Frequent)

  • Ability to meet California laws governing the acceptable use of a respirator

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds as well as objects of varying sizes and shapes for shipment to and set up at various customer training sites (Occasional)

  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and/or telephone keyboard (Frequent)

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (Frequent)

The salary range for this role is:

$102,708 - $145,530
