What the day will look like

  • Data collation: Communicate with colleagues and / or clients to prepare insurance and exposure data for risk modelling and to provide own perspective to assist the project.

  • Initial data review: Understand the data mapping and transformations that would be involved for end-to-end data flows from raw data to a target data model.

  • Data modelling and visualization: Carry out stochastic and / or deterministic modelling to help quantify risks and visualize the findings for our clients by presenting key insights derived from the analytics.

  • Captive support: Assist with captive feasibility studies, captives’ insurance programmes placing and premium allocation model. Within rotation period with the regional captive management team, help selected captive managers to reconcile claims and financial data, assist in financial reporting tasks, and facilitate meeting notes, reports writing or presentations.

  • Contribute to discussions with the team in providing innovative solutions to complex client needs.

  • Assist in automation of tasks to improve operational efficiency.

  • Assist in discussions with clients to understand their risk profile and overall Know-Your-Customer (KYC).

  • Any other relevant duties as assigned.

    Aon's Actuarial & Analytics (A&A) Team provides tailored consulting solutions to clients across the insurance industry. Our clients include multinational corporations, banks, captive insurers, and insurance and reinsurance companies across the world. The Actuarial & Analytics (A&A) team works with the wider Aon network of brokers and captive managers to provide a broad range of products and services to Aon's diverse client base. We utilise our skills and market experience to help our clients implement effective risk management approaches to operate efficiently in the increasingly sophisticated and dynamic global market.

    Joining the Asia A&A team, the Associate Data Analyst will be based in Singapore to support clients and projects in the Asia (and APAC, if required) region. As part of training and exposure, a rotation to Regional Captive Management (RCM) team, specializing in risk financing and captive consultancy, is included.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Bachelors in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or other related degrees.

  • Competency in MS Office suites (Excel, Word, PPT, Access) and deep experience in handling and wrangling of data using analytical tools. Experience with Python is preferred, and any other programming skills is a plus.

  • Data modelling experience for analytical / reporting systems. An understanding of statistical / mathematical modelling and strong interest in data visualization is vital for this role. Ability to use complex computer programs, to organize and cleanse data, to analyse primary company coverage and insurance / reinsurance contracts, and to present information to clients clearly.

  • Knowledge of financial investment and the impact of risk on investing and profitability and the ability to comprehend financial ratios and other information from company accounts.

  • Knowledge of commercial insurance policies / markets and accounting is highly advantageous.

  • Understand the importance of performance and able to implement best practices in ensuring performance and maintainability for data and visualization projects.

  • Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey the results of the complex models to non-technical audience.
