OVERVIEW
As the Digital News Editor, APAC, you will be at the core of the editorial team, responsible for breaking, assigning, editing and writing news stories throughout Singapore’s business day. Your role will involve updating the CNBC.com website, coordinating with various teams and covering breaking news – all within tight deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Deputy Managing Editor in leading and managing a team of journalists
Act as the hot-seat for CNBC.com, managing and updating site content with strong editorial judgment and knowledge of business and financial news
Manage mobile notifications by crafting compelling headlines and ensuring readers are alerted to significant news of the day
Assign and edit APAC digital stories, ensuring a balanced mix of breaking news, insightful analysis, and engaging features
Write stories with speed and precision, maintaining accuracy and tone
Perform copy editing for CNBC.com, ensuring the highest quality and timely publication of stories, features, video descriptions and interactive content
Foster a collegial and collaborative team environment by managing and mentoring financial journalists at various experience levels
Oversee project timelines and resources effectively
Collaborate closely with the broadcast team to create digital write-ups of live interviews
Monitor and evaluate the performance of CNBC’s digital content using analytics tools
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Extensive knowledge of CNBC’s content and subject material, with experience leading a team of financial reporters focused on markets, economics, or technology
Ability to meticulously edit copy under tight deadlines, identifying and correcting errors and typos, while crafting compelling and catchy headlines
Proven track record in managing direct reports effectively
Strong understanding of global financial markets and the interconnections between events in different economies and markets
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay composed in a fast-paced news environment
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across all departments and locations, ensuring the website operates smoothly and accurately
Excellent verbal communication skills, combined with strong research and succinct writing skills
Demonstrated self-starter, with the confidence to make informed decisions in a fast-paced news environment
Fluency in English language
Flexible and willing to occasionally work different shifts when required, which some start very early in the morning or on weekends
Knowledge of social media platforms, especially X
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar role
Experience in updating websites, news editing or hot-seating at a wire service
Familiarity with content management systems
Background in working for a leading wire service or business news organization
Experience in overseeing news coverage and making editorial decisions
