Director, Automation & Smart Manufacturing
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the global Automation and Manufacturing Engineering leadership, is to define the strategy and drive for the roadmap of advanced approaches in manufacturing excellence. Conduct comprehensive business analysis to assess the current state of manufacturing processes, identify improvement areas, and establish a strategic vision for leveraging manufacturing intelligence to optimize operations.
Work concurrently and collaboratively with designs, factories and suppliers to implement new manufacturing/operational technologies in enhancing the quality and efficiency, also improve the process capability in meeting the NPI needs. Develop strategies for robotics, auto vision and automation, considering customized solution or off the shelf applications. Lead the DFA in NPI, to drive for standardization and collaboration with product development, to design the NPI with high automation friendliness.
Smart manufacturing is a critical path in Best-In-Class manufacturing, which aims to drive digital transformation on a global scale. Lead efforts to standardize business and user experience requirements related to manufacturing intelligence, fostering operational harmonization and ensuring consistent user experiences across different sites. Develop manufacturing intelligence through data analytics. revolutionize manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant operations while enhancing plant reliability and uptime.
Combining and implementing the right mix of smart manufacturing solutions into the traditional manufacturing process can help to accurately predict requirements, identify errors, and make innovation and the manufacturing process more manageable.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Global Automation & Smart Manufacturing leadership
To develop and execute the Automation Strategy for the company
To develop the standardization in Automation & Smart Manufacturing
To liaise with factories in Automation deployment and selection
To align the known good automation and Smart processes to multi sites.
Keep exploring latest market available trend and applications to evaluate the performance
Control the overall spending and approached in Automation and smart solutions in sites
To develop and evaluate new operational technologies
To identify new processes, materials & manufacturing systems which can match the strategic product and process needs by studying the market, industry, design, vendor & customer trends.
To set up DOE and trials to prove the concept and ideas.
Coordinate with factory or engineering teams in the qualification and applications.
To setup the evaluation and qualification procedure in new technologies adoption
Working with Information technologies in defining the system and application requirements.
To initiate efficiency, quality & cost reduction projects
To identify the performance improvement and cost saving opportunities based on new technologies, automation and i4.0 approaches.
To evaluate market available solutions and perform the qualifications and configurations for internal use.
To facilitate factory implementation and monitor the overall performance after rolling out, update the best practices and proliferations.
To provide technical support to factories
To provide technical details & solution on process issues or quality improvement to factory
Working in NPI development by providing DFA input to enhancing the design
To assist Program/Quality Team in providing feedback to customer on new process or specific technical issues
To setup regular discussion sessions with Design teams and Factories to understand the design trend and manufacturing capability improvement plan
Align with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in process standardization
New Operational Technologies/Automation development
To lead the overall Internet of Things integrations (IIoT) and solution selection for the company
Focus on the critical technologies are particularly important when implementing a smart manufacturing approach, like Auto visual inspection (AVI), Autonomous Motion Robot (AMR), process visualization (Power BI)
Others, including data lake solutions, AI/machine learning–based analytics, digital twins, and augmented reality applications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Based in Singapore with frequent travel to other manufacturing sites, including Mexico, Penang, Laguna, Cavite and Thailand.

Automation process and line design experience

EXPERIENCE:
Min. 20 years Electronics manufacturing experience with automation design an deployment
Prefer to have box build, PCBA, Product Testing or PSU testing process development experience

Teams & projects management
EDUCATION:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent, preferably in Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
