Job Purpose and Impact

As the Senior Sensory & Consumer Scientist, you will be part of the growing Sensory & Consumer Expertise Department, today represented by more than 30 scientists worldwide. You will be reporting directly to the Sensory & Consumer Science APAC Lead and will advise on the strategy to implement S&CS to Cargills Indulgence and other businesses which are just establishing.

In this exciting – new – position, you will be the single point of contact for the business group when it comes to strengthening our capabilities and implementing most agile tools to discover what really matters for our customer and the consumer to whom our customer sells its products. Your daily job will be dynamic, and it is expected that you communicate needs and results with confidence to senior management and get our joined goals accomplished by teaming up with our factory, product development, application or sales teams. Regular travels to different Cargill sites as well as to guide fieldwork with agencies within the APAC region can be expected.

Key Accountabilities

You will be dedicated to continuously interpret and link sensory and consumer related datasets and with the gained insights, you will enable our technical services, product and process as well as broad innovation teams to understand customer & consumer demand of today and tomorrow.

You will develop sensory & consumer knowledge for Cargill Indulgence relevant categories, investigate APAC insights, cooperate with global research design/local implement, and transfer these insights into product development, play as role of Sensory & Consumer Experience Designer Indulgence.

You will lead SEA sensory team to support local sensory activities aligning with SEA strategy:

  • Manage the development and/or maintenance of new, agile or alternative methods in complex sensory & consumer research set ups

  • Analyze test panel and consumer test results

  • Design, conduct and deliver reports on sensory research with clear take outs for technical and/or marketing and/or project teams.

  • Ability to present study results confidently to divers teams and/or stakeholders and/or customers

  • Continuous Sensory & Consumer methodology scouting and advice to management

  • Implement trainings to and/or with colleagues in the fields of sensory and consumer science

  • Ensure the right amount of sensory and consumer knowledge management tools are continuously integrated

  • Demonstrates a high level of accountability and self-direction but knows when to escalate

  • Guide SEA panel leader to implement sensory tests regular basis

  • Develop and enhance sensory & cosnumer science capability in SEA to fit APAC/Global S&CS development road map

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in in the fields of Sensory & Consumer Science, Consumer Psychology or equivalent.

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge on interpretation of qualitative and quantitative sensory data and statistics for product development

  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience, preferable in FMCG

  • People management experience

  • Confirmed sensory and consumer science project management knowledge

  • Excellent team-player with solid influencing skills and a can do it mentality

  • Preferred Qualifications – Master’s degree (or above) or other post-secondary degree in Food Science with strong emphasis in Sensory Science

  • Capability of designing statistical tools and experimental design for result interpretation is a plus

  • English fluent speaking and writing is a must, other languages are a plus
