We are searching for a Director of Accounting to guide our property management client in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This role involves overseeing various financial aspects including Asset Management, Reporting, Compliance, and AR/AP while collaborating with other functional leaders. The Director of Accounting will also be expected to optimize the team and manage managers to set the course for the future growth of the firm.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate all accounting operations, such as general accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

• Analyze records of past and present operations to identify trends, costs, revenues, and obligations to drive informed decision-making.

• Develop, modify, and review accounting systems and reporting methods to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Implement and oversee budgeting systems to control expenditures for various activities and projects.

• Engage in strategic management discussions concerning capital preservation and asset management.

• Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Develop and monitor budgets for properties under management, ensuring financial goals are met.

• Maintain accurate financial records and manage cash flow effectively.

• Conduct regular financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making.

• Collaborate closely with property managers and executives to optimize financial performance.

• Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and regulations.

• Work with auditors during financial audits and tax filings.

• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in property management accounting.

Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential.

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is required.

• Knowledge of BlackLine, Concur, and CRM software is beneficial.

• Demonstrable expertise in accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Proficiency in auditing procedures is necessary.

• Experience with budgeting processes and forecasting tools is desirable.

• Proven track record of managing accounting operations.

• Strong understanding of accounting management principles.

• Ability to demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred).

• Professional accounting certification, such as CPA, is highly desirable.
