Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Slippery Rock University, named a College of Distinction for the 2024-2025 academic year, invites applications to fill a tenure track position (Assistant or Associate rank, depending on qualifications and experience) to join faculty of our Nursing Program beginning August 2025. This opportunity is due to program expansion. The successful candidate must be willing to serve in curricular and program development and assist in growing the pre-licensure Nursing Program. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the undergraduate nursing program, however may also be required to teaching graduate-level courses. As a full-time Tenure Track faculty, the successful candidate must meet teaching, scholarship, service, and professional responsibilities criteria; and, participate in on-campus and virtual meetings. This position is at the Slippery Rock University campus, however some online instruction may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate possesses must have an academic doctorate degree (PhD in Nursing, EdD, DEd, or related discipline), or terminal doctoral degree must be completed one by their date of hire. A current and unencumbered Pennsylvania RN license or eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure and a minimum of one graduate degree in nursing are required. SRU requires a commitment to the education of diverse populations. Candidates must complete submit a well written and organized application package, complete a successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching, and scholarship demonstrations, and provide appropriate supporting references. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. SRU requires a commitment to the education of diverse populations for all positions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a willingness to serve leadership roles for the program

  • Experience in pre-licensure nursing education

  • Experience in both face-to-face and online instruction

  • Priority will be given to those with expertise in nursing program leadership roles

  • Prior program and curriculum development experience

  • Demonstrate experience in, or willingness to accept, a leadership role in the program

  • Knowledge and/or experience with program accreditation and State Board of Nursing requirements are strongly preferred.

  • Effective in working collaboratively with colleagues and students

  • Clinical experience is beneficial
