Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the Cardiovascular
Service Line in alignment with system service line goals, including Cardiovascular Imaging,
Cardiac Catheterization, Heart Failure Clinic, and Cardiac Rehab Services. Ensures efforts align
with mission, vision, and strategic planning processes in are conjunction with the Cardiovascular
Services Medical Director. Attends monthly System CV Service Line meetings representing
hospital entity and ensures other leaders, physicians and line staff are updated with information.
- Provides overall staff leadership for all inpatient and outpatient services including but not limited
to the hiring, firing, performance management, coaching, counseling and development of CV staff. Oversees productivity and utilization of staff in areas of responsibility based on shift, skill level, patient census, acuity, and economic constraints. Coordinates and establishes employee engagement and development programs within CV Services.
- Prepares and meets yearly objectives for areas of responsibility; provides updates to COO as
needed but at least on a quarterly basis. Effectively translates objectives and goals into specific
actions.
- Ensures that quality patient care is provided to each patient in accordance with established
standard of care, practice and performance, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the development, revision, and approval of all policies and procedures for
hospital entity Cardiovascular Services line. Ensures that each area of responsibility has
clinical/technical policies in place to address specific areas of operations and that these policies
are reviewed and revised as appropriate.
- Responsible for all financial aspects of Cardiovascular Services to include preparation of
operating and capital budgets, annual equipment analysis to identify trends or problems, and
completing monthly Responsibility Reports in a timely manner, providing acceptable explanation
of variances.
- Ensures Quality, Safety and Service within Cardiovascular services to including developing and
implementing patient satisfaction indicators and monitoring trends with physicians and staff;
identifying and implementing intervention strategies to exceed patient and physician
expectations.
- Identifies communication needs and implements interventions for provider and staff satisfaction.
Monitors trends and adjusts to maintain an environment for staff satisfaction.
- Oversees ongoing performance improvement programs to monitor quality and appropriateness of
patient care, as well as to improve efficiency of processes and resource utilization. Reviews,
analyzes, and implements improvements based on data indicators. Involves physicians in issues
and outcomes.
- Establishes productive and diplomatic relationships with functional leaders across the Piedmont
system, supporting prioritized initiatives, mandates, deliverables and resources.

Skills and Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in field related to healthcare required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of clinical experience in a hospital setting required. Three (3) years management experience required. Hospital setting preferred.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Depending on degree, associated current state license required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience with involving quality improvement, patient safety, process improvement or a close
related field. Working knowledge of hospital, departments, and physician offices/clinics policies,
procedures and regulations. Knowledge of laws, regulations, standards and guidelines imposed on
healthcare systems by various agencies. Ability to develop strong working relationships with physicians,
staff, patients, visitors, and Piedmont Healthcare partners. null
