Supervise, plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of the Quality Laboratory Instrumentation and Administration group and QC document control. Responsible for controlling the flow of work in both areas. Enforce testing standards and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This section contains a list of five to eight primary responsibilities of this role that account for 5% or more of the work. The incumbent will perform other duties assigned.

  • Supervise the administration of laboratory systems including LIMS, Empower, and all instrument-specific or enterprise systems.

  • Supervise QC document control. Ensure issuing and archiving of records is complete and within established timelines.

  • Ensure laboratory system support of all manufacturing processes.

  • Ensure data integrity and compliance of all applicable systems.

  • Ensure completion of all protocols and validations in a timely and appropriate manner. Report progress of related work and the significance of results. Manage change control and Trackwise deviations.

  • Ensure compliance with system testing SOPs and specifications. Monitor the testing techniques and accuracy of all records and documentation that is done in the lab.

  • Maintain expenses at or below budget.

  • Assure compliance with company procedures, applicable quality and regulatory requirements and guidance including cGMP and USP rules. Compliance will keep the department ready for an audit by both internal and external authorities. It is the responsibility of the Supervisor to answer technical questions concerning the department posed by any inspector.

  • Assure a safe and non-discriminatory working environment for employees.

  • Assure employees are properly trained and audited. Make appropriate staffing recommendations. Evaluate performance via performance appraisals and insure employees have development plans.

  • Prepare, review and revise, as required, SOPs and specifications. Write memos, reports, protocols, CPAs and other appropriate documentation for proper functioning of the department.

  • Recommend instrumentation purchases and upgrades for the laboratory that ensures optimum lab performance. Troubleshoot and resolve instrument problems. Stay current in the field of lab instruments, lab software, and analytical methods.

  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership.

Qualifications:

Must know operating and troubleshooting procedures for lab equipment software and lab enterprise software systems including LIMS and Empower. Must have GDP experience and critical thinking skills. Must know government regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing labs. Must possess excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers and managers. Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision, good knowledge of lab testing processes, and technical problem solving skills.

Education and/or Experience:

Include the education and experience that is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, or biological science with 5-8 years of experience in pharmaceutical production. Ten years of lab system administration experience preferred.
