Position Summary:
Provide leadership, influence, and direction for the service groups’ Quality Control and Quality Engineering personnel and activities. This would be done by building effective working relationships with all related groups and people, participation in the standardization of quality system processes, development and execution of plans for continuous improvement, and provide opportunities for personal and professional development of associates. Participate in the activities of the service group staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop skills of associates in the areas of leadership, customer support, problem solving etc. Resolve associate performance issues as needed. Create and maintain an environment that promotes teamwork, energy, and efficiency. Administer performance and wage system.
Maintain Swagelok's quality reputation through the management of the product returns, recall and containment processes.
Maintain and communicate service group Quality related metrics to ensure clear visibility and understanding of our current state of product Quality and of the quality system. Develop plans to address critical areas for improvement. Lead service group quality review board activities (QRB/MRB) and influence peers in regard to resolving quality problems. Coordinate and lead the returns process for the service group.
Establish and maintain the balance between market / customer quality requirements and sustained profitability.
Ensure appropriate implementation, communication and adoption of Product Quality Planning within the service group.
Manage and support internal and external Quality audit events.
Manage the corrective action process for the service group, taking ownership for adding and closing all corrective actions, while providing assistance to the corrective action owners to ensure effectiveness
Maintain appropriate staffing levels, shift coverage, and inspection capabilities (skills and equipment) at each site. Balance resource capacity to workload based on the implementation of efficient best practices.
Manage group budget. Work with department supervisors to establish budgets, meet budget targets, analyze variances, and identify cost reduction opportunities
Continually look for ways to improve methods and documentation for all business processes related to quality.
Assist with strategic quality planning for the service group. Identify, analyze, assess, define and prioritize key quality projects, metrics, and goals to support the service group annual business plan.
Work with the operations facilities to provide an increasing level of service and responsiveness based on their needs to solve top quality issues.
Build effective working relationships that lead to improve overall quality awareness and levels.
Ensure that corporate quality systems and procedures are consistently implemented within at all sites within service group. Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes at all levels.
Strong Communicator, Quality Systems, Product Quality Planning, Manufacturing Process, Problem Solving Methodologies, Associate Development, ISO 9000 awareness, Quality Certification.
As a leader, you are expected to know, enforce, and appropriately escalate all Swagelok associate policies.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements :
Required:
Bachelors degree
5+ years Managerial Experience
Preferred:
- Education: Engineering degree ; Masters level degree or equivalent A strong understanding and working knowledge of the nature of manufacturing plant operations.
Skills/Knowledge: Considered an expert in one of the following areas: Product Quality Planning, Lean Manufacturing Methods/Tools, Six Sigma, Quality Systems, or Large Scale New Product Development (OEM/Consumer Products)
