up to $56,000 annually

DESCRIPTION

Salary Range - $56,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY:Performs a variety of administrative, supervisory, and professional duties related to the daily operation and maintenance of Kennedy Pool, Studebaker Fountain, Jon Hunt Fountain, Howard Park Rask Fountain, Howard Park Ice Rink, and OBrien Pond. Assists as needed in the daily operations of the Facilities Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Applicable: Supervises seasonal employees and when assisting the Facilities Manager- Skilled Trades and Custodial Teamster employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates schedules and maintains related records and statistics for personnel at the swimming pools.
• Oversees the maintenance of the swimming pools. Monitors and maintains pool filtration system. Monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples and recording readings for the Health Department.
• Adjusts pool chemicals as needed to maintain State requirements and standards.
• Maintains plumbing (sinks, stools, and showers) in associated facilities.
• Maintains fountains and related pumps and systems.
• Maintains ice rink compressors, evaporator, chiller, brine system, and other related ice rink equipment.
• Monitors and advises on ice thickness and conditions and works across divisions to ensure the safety and quality of the ice product.
• Must be available on call during rink and pool season. Participates in on-call rotation during off season.
• Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; performs cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
• Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Prepares a variety of studies, reports and related information for decision making purposes. Prepares attendance, accident, and routine accounting reports.
• Enters purchase requisitions, personnel requisitions, and invoices for payment.
• Holds and purchases materials with City issued purchasing card.
• Keeps records of completed daily work.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
• Minimum of five years experience in refrigeration and water circulation systems.
• Any equivalent combination of relative education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to wo k schedule.
• Ability to work independently and make necessary work-related decisions.
• Ability to work with other departments on various projects.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk apart and for extended periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:

• Valid Drivers License required.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification and or Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) certification.
