About this position:

Provides an environment that facilitates ongoing training and development of team members while guiding team members through day-to-day activities. Responsible for managing and supervising Insurance Customer Service Representatives and Specialists to include annual employee appraisals and employee development. Where necessary, interacts with Agency Principals and sales professionals to ensure customer needs are fully met.

Responsibilities

Complete customer requests for new business quotes, review existing accounts for proper coverage and insurance carriers for placement, process changes, and collect premiums when applicable.

Actively seek referrals from current customer base while continuing to offer quality customer service.

Maintain customer accounts on agency computer system, document all transactions in activity log and suspense file, send confirmations to insured, and adhere to all procedures.

Provide consistent, outstanding customer service by consulting with customers on coverage and risk exposures to ensure coverage is adequate.

Lead and develop team through day-to-day operations, projects, and special assignments to meet department and Company goals.

Oversee department staff schedules to ensure adequate staff coverage.

Manage, coach, and counsel staff to meet department goals and achieve performance standards; encourage continuous improvement for career development.

Education/Certifications:

Associates degree in related field or equivalent experience required

4 years of underwriting experience and selling of personal or commercial lines of insurance preferred

1 year of supervisor experience preferred

Must have licenses as required by New York State Department of Insurance or willing to obtain

Skills/Knowledge:

Thorough knowledge of insurance underwriting and rating procedures

Working knowledge of insurance management systems

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable speaking with customers, co-workers, and management

Ability to independently handle multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines; attention to detail a must

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and some brief periods of walking/standing

Repetitive use of telephone, computer, computer mouse, and keyboard

Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. at times

The salary range for this position is $60,406 - $75,000 commensurate with experience and education.

Additional compensation may be earned through the Company’s profit-sharing bonus program, subject to individual and company performance.
