Thoroughbred Race Horse Groom- 6 full-time, temporary, seasonal (H-2B) jobs available 10/15/2024-08/14/2025
Employer: Noda Racing Inc.,249 Claflin Blvd, Franklin Square, NY 11010 Worksite: 100-00 Rockaway Blvd, South Ozone Park, NY 11420.
Duties: Attend to overall care of thoroughbred race horses including feed, water, maintenance of stalls & tack, clean, brush, trtm of horses, disinfect stalls & bedding. Will lift legs & clean feet & apply liniments & bandages to legs as required. Will care for 1-5 horses at a time, including hot walking and tacking up.
Work days: Days vary Wed-Sun, 5am-11am and 3pm-5pm. Days and hours may vary. 40 hours/week at $17.75/hr. Possible OT at $26.63/hr. Employer offers a bonus of 1 % of any winning purse.
No education required, 1 month experience required.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Workers will be paid weekly on Friday. All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made. Optional housing and utilities will be provided free of charge to the workers in the backstretch.
Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer. Daily subsistence rates are $15.88/day without receipts or up to $59/day with receipts.
