Job Summary:

Maine Connections Academy (MCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public charter school for students in grades 7–12 statewide. MCA is authorized by the Maine Charter School Commission and is governed by an independent Board of Directors. MCA is accredited by the Cognia.

Position Summary and Responsibilities Working primarily from your home, certified educators will utilize the Pearson Online Classroom to support and motivate students in working through their curriculum, deliver synchronous instruction, provide intervention and enrichment, and use data to diagnose student learning needs. The Educational Technician II or III will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

Instructional Support

  • Guide and assist students with lessons, activities and technology tasks under the direction of classroom teachers and other staff;

  • Reinforce concepts across subject areas;

  • Support students with work completion, study skills, time management, and organization;

  • Contact students through a variety of methods for support;

  • Participate in meetings where communication and implementing strategies are discussed;

  • Assist middle school math teacher with classroom activities and lessons;

  • Monitor peer mentors and their mentees within the lesson space, ensuring a supportive and productive environment, and communicate with relevant parties.

  • Represent a commitment to equitable practice in all areas within the job description; this includes use of evidence to make decisions, holding high expectations for all students and committing to providing individualized support to all students to meet those expectations

  • Develop a general knowledge of the entire program’s 7-12 curriculum and a very detailed knowledge assessment types and gradebooks for which responsible to working with students on;

  • Build strong relationships with students and families to provide direct instruction and intervention that meets the needs of the individual student;

  • Collaborate within the school’s professional learning community to continuously monitor student data to make strong instructional decisions that have direct impact on student learning;

  • Collaborate with other teachers, team members and staff learning specialists to develop alternate interventions and extensions to students’ programs to ensure all students learn at relatively high levels of achievement;

  • Work with Advisory Teachers and School Counselor(s) to ensure students and families are receiving appropriate communications, students are making adequate progress and established goals are being met;

  • Participate in the organization and/or administration of State Testing, as directed;

  • Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ed Tech III certification in Maine

  • Proficient computer skills including work in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Web-based and instructional technology proficient

  • An understanding of the developmental needs of middle and high school students

  • Creative problem solving to meet individual needs of students

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information at all times

  • Demonstrates high level of integrity and accountability.
