As a part of the mechanical group, you will be part of developing next generation clean energy solutions, accelerating our progress towards a sustainable energy future. You will play a leading role in the design, validation, and production of Generac’s clean energy products, with an emphasis on innovation, manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing mechanical components and assemblies for next gen clean energy products
Designing, prototyping, testing & validating products into production / sustaining
Collaborating with the design studio, hw engr, mfg engr, quality, operations
Delivering solutions optimized for form, function, quality, cost, and experience
Presenting and documenting work for recording and review purposes
Ensuring solutions are manufacturable, serviceable, and compliant
Mentoring engineers and helping build effective processes
Solving electronic integration challenges related to:
Thermal management
Electrical isolation
Interconnects
EMI/EMC
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with strong fundamentals
Minimum 7 years of industry mechanical design experience
Experience leading multiple products from architecture into mass production
Expertise selecting engineering materials for function, aesthetics, and compliance
Expertise in design for manufacturability, and design for assembly
Experience with validation testing, product reliability, and failure analysis
Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks and Creo preferred)
Proficiency in 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
Expertise in contract manufacturing, 6 sigma, inspection & measurement
Expertise in 5 or more mass production processes such as:
Stamping / sheet metal / welding
Textures & cosmetic part finishes
Tooling & fixturing
Injection molding
CNC machining
Extrusion
Turning
Casting
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Record of developing multiple quality products into production
Experience designing solutions for battery energy storage systems
Experience designing for automotive or NEMA/IP rated products
Experience with UL 9540A regulatory requirements and testing
Experience in rapid prototyping (3D printing, quick-turn mockups)
Experience with structural FEA and ability to perform simulations
Excellent written and oral communication with peers and leadership

Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
