Government client is seeking to hire a Grant Accountant to join their team on a contract basis! You will be instrumental in helping close out grants, assist with backlogged reconciliation, and additional projects. Job Description:

We are currently in search of a dedicated and experienced Grant Accountant to join our financial team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in grant accounting within a non-profit or government industry. They will be extensively familiar with the application, monitoring, and reporting of grants as per federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage all aspects of grant-related financial statements and reports.

  • Monitor and analyze the expenditure of grant funds for compliance with the budget.

  • Coordinate with program personnel to ensure financial reporting requirements are met.

  • Review and approve grant budgets, amendments, and budget reallocations.

  • Develop and present financial analysis and reports for management.

  • Prepare various financial analysis, as needed for grant applications.

  • Implement and monitor internal controls over grant revenues and expenses.

  • Maintain a complete, well-organized, and up-to-date grant financial file archive.

  • Conduct financial training for program directors and project managers regarding grant management as required.

  • Work with external auditors on the annual audit and grant-specific audits.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in grant accounting within the non-profit or government sector.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of grant policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Exceptional knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, but also as part of a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail and discretion with confidential information.
