How will you make an impact?
Our team is seeking a product design professional to make advances in our digital PCR plastic consumable product line. Join us if you're curious innovator who is motivated to deliver sound engineering solutions in a fast-paced environment!
What will you do?
Think creatively about microfluidic designs and demonstrate technical feasibility
Characterize microscale phenomena by employing computational and/or experimental approaches
Refine new design concepts in a multidisciplinary team with opportunities to generate IP along the way
Collaborate with broader team to define requirements and technical specifications, devise test methods to fully characterize product performance, systematically execute experiments, and ensure product manufacturability and reliability
Devise experimental strategies, rigorously document approaches and results, and share findings
Start Date: This internship is set to begin on either May 12th or June 16th, 2025 for a duration of 10-12 weeks – dependent upon student availability per academic calendars.
Compensation & Relocation: Our undergraduate Research & Development internships offer an hourly rate between $21.50 - $28.75 dependent upon the location you are supporting (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines). Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend.
How will you get here?
Undergraduate student completing an Engineering or Life Sciences-related degree between December 2025 and June 2026.
0 years of work experience required; previous related internships preferred.
Experience designing sophisticated, high complexity devices for analytical life science or medical device platform projects
Strong proficiency in fluidic device design and development ; CAD design software and flow simulation experience required
Maintains a high level of professional expertise through keeping up to date with current engineering/scientific literature, competing technologies, and attendance of seminars and conferences
Working understanding of plastic material systems and injection molding among other manufacturing methods and processes preferred
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Must have excellent experimental design, data analysis / visualization, and problem-solving skills
Has strong grasp of microscale fluidic transport fundamentals with biotechnology tools, workflows, and chemistry in digital PCR, qPCR, NGS
Technical writing and documentation generation with effective written and verbal communication
Excellent teammate who can work independently

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.00–$24.00.
