Zero Point, Inc RF Test & Evaluation Engineer/Technical Writer in Southern Pines, North Carolina

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Zero Point Incorporated is seeking an RF Test and Evaluation Engineer/Technical Writer to join their Developmental Test and Evaluation Team in support of the Department of Defense’s research and development programs. The Test Engineer/Technical Writer will perform a variety of technical services requiring operational and technical knowledge of Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) Systems, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Systems, and Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems. These systems may include countermeasures for Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (RC-IED), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and various other RF-based threats. This role will involve conducting comprehensive testing and evaluation of ECM systems to ensure their effectiveness and reliability in real-world scenarios. The Test Engineer/Technical Writer will also be responsible for documenting test results through the writing of formal technical reports and data summaries.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify testing requirements and objectives

  • Design and execute test plans for evaluating the performance of ECM systems

  • Collect and analyze test data and provide actionable insights to improve ECM system design and performance

  • Document test results through the writing of formal technical reports and data summaries

  • Maintain proficiency in understanding emerging technologies and industry trends related to electronic warfare and countermeasures

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering discipline preferred

  • Five years of experience as an RF Test & Evaluation Engineer

  • Five years of experience as a Technical Writer

  • Proficiency in test and measurement equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes)

  • DAU Test and Evaluation Level 1 Course Completion

  • DAU Program Management Level 1 Course Completion

  • Current Top Secret clearance and eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information

  • Technical and operational experience with the following military and commercial wireless communication technologies

    • HF, VHF, UHF
  • Multiband software-defined radios

  • C5ISR

  • Cellular Technologies (LTE, UMTS, 5G, NR, etc.)

  • Other wireless communications technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts in a written format

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Primarily Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for field testing and evaluations

  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • DoD Test & Evaluation

  • Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) Systems

  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Systems

  • Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work may be performed in an indoor or outdoor environment, office, and on occasion, deployment to remote test sites; both continental United States (US), and on occasion, outside the US. Deployments from the test facility are typically no longer than one to two weeks in nature and well planned out ahead of time.

  • Worksite is rudimentary, clothing is typically outdoor work attire, and occasional formal attire may be required for briefings/meetings and will be specified by supervisors in advance.
