BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Item Planning (IP) Specialist III is responsible for executing activities related to item data set up, validation and quality as it relates to Inventory Management solutions for MSC’s customers. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, collection, receipt, and review of data collection for confirmation of viable data detail, Item sourcing, quoting, creation, item induction set up, vendor set up and SPS database support/alignment for implementation. Contract agreement confirmation and item set up related to contracts, validate, and confirm customer pricing, provide pricing to sales team for approval, generate the customer approvals and provide support to the Go Team Specialist, IM Project Specialist team and Sales as it relates to item detail for the project and the configurator. Coordinate and align with all teams for timing, check points and communication cadence.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies items for Solutions customers as part of the program database build and provide all necessary descriptive information to establish new MSC part numbers to support the Solutions.

  • Maintains “single point” process to integrate catalog items, non-catalog items, special items in support of developing item plans for Solutions opportunities.

  • Review, update, process, generate and submit the appropriate customer approval documents to support the project.

  • Assist in completing the quality check of completed Item plans for Solutions projects.

  • Assist and maintain team reporting related but not limited to Quality check, productivity, timing and follow up confirmation.

  • Train and mentor new team members.

  • Coordinate data collection projects working directly with GO team members and communicate timeline to stakeholder groups.

  • CIML - Identify items for the solutions customers as part of the program database build and provide all necessary descriptive information to establish new MSC part numbers (QIA) to support the Solutions.

  • Aligns site specific pricing agreements with overarching customer accounts at the item level.

  • Quote & Collect product information from suppliers in support of new item induction. Accountable for product information to ensure it meets the highest degree of data quality. Including Country of Origin, Product Information gap fill, and drop ship lead time.

  • Conduct cross-functional meetings with stakeholder groups to provide status updates and align priorities.

  • Create & maintain a “Single Point” process - Sort, filter, and update product information using Microsoft Excel and the Product Information Management system for item induction.

  • Keeps worklist task statuses up to date to reflect accurate reporting and metrics.

  • Manages multiple Salesforce work streams while working with different teams to onboard product data across multiple sites.

  • Assist in creating and establishing new Vendor set ups.

· Update SPS cloud database item information in real time to keep program timing aligned.

  • Review, update, process, generate and submit the appropriate customer approval documents to support the project.

  • Active communication with various teams and project representatives via email, phone, and chatter.

  • Aid in new processes development and implementation.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

o Associates degree or equivalent experience required.

o Minimum of five years Industry experience required.

o Strong knowledge of metal-cutting tooling required

o Inventory management solutions experience preferred

o Sales force experience preferred

o Experience working with large amounts of product information data in Microsoft Excel

SKILLS:

o Intermediate/advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.

o Basic analytical skills required.

o MSC applicable computer systems and assigned software knowledge required.

o Knowledge of the industry with diverse product offering, and manufacturers required.

o Excellent time management skills are required.

o Strong problem-solving skills are required.

o Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task proficiently.

o Must be able to work cross functionally among multiple departments (Sales/Operational)

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

o Intermediate level Microsoft Power Point knowledge preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

o This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information (“ITAR”) and/or Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”).

Compensation starting at $23 – $36 / hour dependent on candidate location and experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
