Your day at NTT DATA

The Senior Client Project / Program Manager is an advanced subject matter expert, responsible for leading and directing concurrent client projects classified as standard or complex.

This role may also be involved in larger-scale programs and is responsible for delivery across multiple business areas, geographies and technologies.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Client Project / Program Manager is to interface with all project stakeholders to take projects from original concept through to final implementation, including handing over to Operations (whether internal to organization or to the client's support operations).

This role may take responsibility for the management of projects and programs within more complex/partnership accounts and collaborate and engage with senior members involved in program delivery at the client site.

In this instance, the Senior Client Project / Program Manager leads the coordinated management of multiple related projects within a program to achieve the business objectives and ensure the strategic benefits are transitioned to the client organization.

What you'll be doing

Role Summary

Working under the direction of the PMO, this position is responsible for the governance, coordinated management, and performance of multiple related client projects within the Cloud & Security Project Management Organization. The Program Manager leads the team or teams responsible for delivering a program’s products, services, and outcomes and is accountable for the overall success of the program.

Objectives

  • Ensure that overall program structure and program management processes enable the program and its component teams to successfully deliver the intended outcomes and results.

  • Ensure that component projects and program activities are coordinated, organized, and executed in a consistent manner and within established standards.

  • Maintain continuous alignment of program scope and goals across component projects to ensure successful achievement of program outcomes and results.

  • Serve as an influential leader by demonstrating professionalism and passion for success, fostering collaboration and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate program objectives to project teams and ensure common understanding of program goals, intended results, and success criteria.

  • Ensure that the importance of each of a program’s components is recognized and well understood.

  • Demonstrate effective and appropriate leadership and provide direction to the program team.

  • Provide support and guidance to component project managers on individual project initiatives within the program.

  • Approval of component project plans and schedules.

  • Creation of a deliverable-based and milestone-driven program schedule and managing to that schedule.

  • Integrate and coordinate activities across component projects.

  • Establish priorities for and drive execution of multiple concurrent activities despite ambiguity and/or complexity.

  • Maintain continuous alignment of program scope and objectives.

  • Modify and adjust strategy and plans as required to ensure successful completion of project and program objectives and deliverables.

  • Coordinate resource sharing among component projects to the overall benefit of the program.

  • Monitor and manage program-level R.A.I.D. items.

  • Monitor and manage the following at the program level:

  • Change Management

  • Schedule Management

  • Scope Management

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Management

  • Host, conduct, and facilitate weekly program status meetings (internal and client facing)

  • Prepare professional and thorough weekly client-facing program status reports.

  • Facilitate problem resolution and drive root cause analysis.

  • Escalate key risks, issues, action items, and decisions to primary stakeholders and management in a timely manner.

  • Host, conduct, and facilitate Steering Committee and Executive Board Review meetings.

  • Accountable for financial management of the program including forecasting and revenue conversion according to plan.

  • Obtain final deliverable approval from client.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience

  • Minimum 10 years of formal Project Management experience utilizing a consistent and methodical approach to project delivery based on PMI PMBOK standards and industry best practices.

  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects with focus on data center infrastructure and large-scale migrations, public cloud greenfield, brownfield, and transformation, as well as hybrid cloud.

  • Experience managing concurrent programs and project teams in a matrix organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent Project Management work experience

  • PMI PMP or PgMP certification

Required Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of the principles, practices, processes, tools, and techniques of program and project management.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects; demonstrated experience in program management processes.

  • Superior leadership skills. Ability to effectively motivate and leverage a global, geographically dispersed, fast paced team of high performing individuals.

  • Exceptional communication skills. Must be comfortable communicating with C-level staff and possess demonstrated experience in making articulate and effective oral presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills. Ability to establish productive and collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders; business acumen, negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Detail and big picture oriented. Able to manage details while taking a holistic, view of the program.

  • Analytical skills. Ability to assess a variety of situations, issues, and challenges and make informed yet quick decisions in the best interest of the program.

  • Integration skills. Ability to describe and present a program’s strategic vision and plan holistically, ensuring continuous alignment of program component plans with the program’s goals.

  • Proactive self-starter able to operate independently with minimal guidance by management in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

  • Keen organization and time management skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Extensive experience in meeting planning and facilitation.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Smartsheet.

  • Proficient with Project Management tools including MS Project.

Plus Skills

  • Waterfall and Agile SDLC methodology experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • ITIL Foundation Certification

  • Professional Services background

  • Experience with compliance and audit requirements

  • Experience with ServiceNow preferred

Working Conditions

  • General office environment

  • Travel may be required up to 50%

  • This role requires flexibility, as off-hours activity will be needed to support initiatives and coordinate across a globally dispersed team.
