SPLENDORA ISD School Bus Driver in Splendora, Texas

  • A bus driver is responsible for safely driving students to and from school on a schedule assigned by the director of transportation. A bus driver is responsible for being at work on time every day.

  1. Commercial Drivers License-Class A or B with PandS Endorsements plus 2 years experience driving an automobile.
  2. Successful completion of behind-the-wheel training.
  3. Successful completion of 20 hr. Texas Department of Public Safety Certification Course.
  4. Must pass randomly administered drug and alcohol tests (a refusal for drug and or alcohol test will be considered an automatic positive).
  5. Clearance on criminal history check; Candidates with convictions not considered.
  6. Acceptable references.
  7. Must pass an annual DOT physical examination by an appropriate health professional designated by the district.
  8. Have an interest in and liking for children and young adults.

  1. Ability to operate all types of buses in the Fleet in a safe and effective manner.
  2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  3. Ability to manage students in a safe and appropriate transportation environment.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate with parents and students.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all records.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form with all levels of management both internal and external.

Check mailbox before each run for messages. When Operations receives information that a student is or is not going to school, they will make note of message and leave on key ring or notify driver by radio. In the event the driver receives similar information; whether from school, parent or radio, etc. it is the responsibility of the driver to advise Office Staff.

Responsible for necessary record keeping functions in conjunction with local and state reporting.

Responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from school.

Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for the operation of school buses.

Responsible for preventive care of their assigned bus. Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
