Description House Supervisor RN - Nursing Administration, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital, Spokane WA The Administrative Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who assumes Medical Center operational accountability for a specified shift. Supervisory responsibility includes human resource management, operational management and quality patient care management throughout Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. S/he demonstrates understanding of contemporary nursing principles and age related concepts for all age groups. S/he exhibits behaviors which enhance professional performance and reflect the key moral commitment, ethical principles, values and philosophy of PSHMC. Through the use of leadership skills, promotes staff productivity, and positive staff morale and includes staff in problem solving. Demonstrates skill in communicating clearly, concisely, and factually in various settings utilizing both verbal and written means. S/he assesses the medical center's ability to maintain patient throughput, meet various key performance indicators and to deliver safe and effective patient care by monitoring medTRACK, the various activity status boards, rounding based on priority of needs. The Administrative Supervisor communicates as needed with charge nurses and ancillary department supervisors and assists in problem solving within and between departments when patient flow is affected. S/he assures adequate allocation of staff throughout the nursing department and ancillary departments, including the authorization of overtime when indicated. Informs the Assistant Vice President for Operations of emergent or unusual events, trends, problems perceived, and suggestions for problem resolution and/or improvement for departmental operations. Provides verbal and/or written feedback to Service Line Director/Nurse Managers/Assistant Nurse Managers/Department Director as needed. Informs or consults with the Administrator on call as indicated for unusual events and/or potential crisis situations. As a member of the Nursing Service Administration team, applies leadership skills as s/he serves as a representative on multidisciplinary committees, Nursing Service Committees, and appointed task force committees. For Supplemental Positions: The salary premium for supplemental nurses will be based on a stratified scale determined by the availability of the supplemental nurse. Shift Details: Per Diem, Variable Shift Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License. Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association. 1 year Charge Nurse or leadership experience and demonstrated leadership abilities. Why Join Providence?
