The Clinical Forecasting Specialist (CFS) will take on a role of an integrator and translate the functional needs into the clinical development operations Out-of-Pocket (OOP) forecast. This is accomplished by proactively partnering with the clinical functions to provide trial cost scenario planning, managing all aspects of OOP updates including those for Business Plan, Long Range Financial Plan, and Medical Affairs Operations (MAO) Billing Cycles, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of monthly and quarterly forecasting and closing cycles. For the closing cycles, the planner will support the functions on the required accruals, reclasses, and advanced payments to align to the budgetary forecast target within that quarter for their assigned trials. Additionally, the role will support the GD Delivery Units Project Management roles (CPM), Program Management Leads and Clinical Functions by completing a variety of operational activities including functional detailed forecasting of work deliverables, drivers, name assignments, algorithm review, reason codes, manual updates of resources, and associated reporting. MAO function-specific process activities and interactions with other partners, such as commercial, apply as required.
Principal Responsibilities:
Leading validation of drivers, reconciling and maintaining data accuracy for Planisware and UCT systems as well as providing insightful decision support utilizing reporting platforms (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, UCT, Viz Café) for OOP.
Tracking and reporting of Planned Forecast versus Actuals across the TA, program and the individual studies.
Providing ongoing support in data management, analytics and reporting related to forecasting process.
At quarter close, reconciling and maintaining data accuracy for all systems, non-billable transactions, and mismatch reconciliation as part of the end to end OOPs adjustments.
Providing commentary for the JU/LRFP, NU and FBP Budget versus Budget (BvB) and quarter close Budget versus Actuals (BvA) for financial applications and continuous forecasting.
Recommending technical and process improvements for functional OOP planning and resourcing.
Leads functional review meetings on a monthly basis to align the continuous forecast to the actual plan.
Supports the function and governance processes by providing multiple forecasting scenarios.
Supports budget gap analysis to align the continuous forecast to the actual plan.
Involvement in forecasting issue resolution activities
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required or 3 years equivalent work experience.
Three (3) years of work experience with two years (2) in the research and development environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, other industries accepted) is required.
Strong written, verbal and analytical skills.
Knowledge of planning process/tools and/or financial aspects of conducting clinical trials.
Strong operational and analytical skills with knowledge of MS office tools with a focus in Excel.
Excellent time management, priority setting and communication skills
Must work with great accuracy, be customer and service focused, and able to support conflict resolution.
Experience in the associated therapeutic area is preferred.
Planisware, Visualization Tools (ex. Tableau), CTMS and other web based interfaces is preferred.
At least two years of financial analytics experience is preferred.
Language: fluency in English is required
Travel As required to support project teams at multiple site locations, including participation in regional planning meetings when applicable (5% domestic travel may be required
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $105,000 to $169,050.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
