Join us as a Technology Product Owner and play a pivotal role in the development of an innovative cheminformatics platform, crafted through an exciting collaboration between R&D Business Technology and In Silico Discovery (ISD). This platform will further enhance the impact of AI/ML and advanced analytics in our drug discovery processes and accelerate timelines by improved, data-driven decision-making. Your main focus will be the successful onboarding of new projects on this platform and the extension of its existing functionality based on user feedback. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business leaders, software architects, and engineers to integrate groundbreaking technologies into our platform, while seamlessly incorporating it into our existing IT architecture. This collaborative effort will ensure that our tools are easily accessible to end-users, elevating the overall user experience. By overcoming technical challenges, you will empower scientists to harness technology effectively in their research and propel innovation in our discovery efforts. Primary responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining, scouting, implementing and championing new data-driven and scientific IT approaches across our global Therapeutics Discovery unit.

  • Support cross-site, multi-disciplinary projects with internal and external partners.

  • Identify and drive opportunities to enable the modernization of tools guiding decision-making across modalities.

  • Promote the engagement and commitment of team members and ensuring superb communication between researchers, developers, and suppliers.

  • Define project goals and manage risks/budgets to ensure impact, including post project evaluations and communication to stakeholders.

  • Evaluate and communicate the strengths and weaknesses of business processes. Identify new business requirements and develop business change strategies to address the needs of stakeholders by improving information systems, procedures and championing organizational change.

  • Support the coordination of external vendors and deployment partners to ensure they meet their contracted milestone and agreed-upon timelines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science or related subject area is required

  • Master’s degree is preferred

Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience enabling use, development, and maintenance of IT systems

  • Demonstrable experience working with scientific IT applications

  • Foundational skills in IT, showcasing proficiency in areas such as database management, data engineering, cloud computing concepts, and IT architecture

  • Ability to work with business partners to understand complex business requirements and translate these into technical specifications

  • Proven bilingualism in both science and technology

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, multiple partners, multi-functional teams, and evolving needs

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build collaborative partnerships and trust across functions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Working experience in pharmaceutical discovery

  • Ability to generate and communicate complex metrics using data analytics tools such as Spotfire, Datagrok, Streamlit, or LiveDesign

  • Practical cheminformatics expertise, working with Knime, PLP, ChemAxon, RDKIT, OpenEye, or similar toolkit

  • Experience in programming languages, particularly in Python

  • Knowledge of data engineering concepts and SQL

  • Experience working with sophisticated data solutions in an Agile/Scrum, Cloud-based environment, and deployments at a global scale
