Strike Senior Engineer II in Spring, Texas

Job Summary:

The Senior Engineer II will be responsible for managing, coordinating and leading the EPC Terminals civil structural department for EPC terminal/facility projects within the midstream oil & gas markets. Duties will include planning and executing of civil structural tasks and activities, developing and maintaining client relationships, resource loading, assisting with the preparation of proposals, supervising and mentoring a team of civil structural designers, drafters, and engineers.

Primary Job Function:

  • Coordinate civil structural team workloads to ensure project deliverables are generated within scope, budget, and on schedule in adherence with client requirements and specifications.

  • In charge of department resource loading, scheduling, and execution including quality outputs.

  • Plan preliminary layouts with designers using engineering notes, field sketches, and other information or drawings.

  • Conduct and lead project 3D model reviews as well as engineering/design/quality reviews with civil structural and other discipline teams.

  • Review civil structural packages, calculations, and other project deliverables for compliance with Strike QA/QC procedures.

  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining all facets of civil structural deliverables from start to finish.

  • Attend project meetings and provide discipline updates when assigned as a project lead.

  • Visit client sites for bid walkdowns and to obtain field dimensions as needed.

  • Coordinate laser scanning scope with subcontractors.

  • Develop civil structural man-hour and deliverable estimates for proposals.

  • Work with all engineering, procurement, construction and PMT team members to achieve the common goal(s) as set by the Project Manager(s) and Department Director’s direction.

  • Manage and control job descriptions, interviews, yearly reviews, and all personnel on team.

  • Manage any development and training programs for the team.

  • Manage and catalog all required software with routine re-assessment/validation.

  • Responsible for department workload planning, scheduling and execution including overall quality outputs.

  • Support and follow direction from the Director of Terminals.

    Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of terminal and/or midstream facility engineering and design experience, with a specialty in civil structural engineering and design.

  • Field experience walking down projects and field sketching structures and foundations.

  • 3D Design experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks, and laser scan software such as Recap or Cloudworx.

  • Applying industry standards such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, and PIP (Process Industry Practices) among others.

  • Developing all facets of civil and structural deliverables from start to finish.

    Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred. A Masters degree is a plus.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas required.

    Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cadworx, Navisworks and other modeling software.

  • Proficient in structural and foundation finite element analysis (FEA) software such as STAAD or RISA for use in putting together engineering calculations to support project deliverables.

  • Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.

  • Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

  • Ability to train and develop civil structual designers, drafters, engineers, standards and policies.

  • Works both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.

  • Displays excellent written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.

  • Displays tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personnel.

  • Lead and participate in detailed discussions with clients and vendors to support services provided by the company.

  • Experience supporting construction activities and ability to provide quick and reasonable solutions to issues as they arise in the field.

  • Proven demonstratable competency in managing people and teams.

  • Ability to assess complex design issues and provide cost effective solutions.

  • Ability to provide technical advice to less experienced CAD users.
