Wolters Kluwer Lead Technical Writer - Clinical Quality Analyst in Springfield, Illinois

LOCATION: Remote U.S. locations

OVERVIEW

You will play a critical role in ensuring that our advanced clinical decision support solutions meet the highest quality standards, which are of paramount importance to the company’s mission to improve the quality and effectiveness of healthcare worldwide. You will be well-versed in the HL7 FHIR® standard, HIPAA and standard terminologies (e.g., RxNorm, SNOMED, ICD-10-CM, etc.). In addition, you will possess proven clinical and analytical skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and global customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represents Wolters Kluwer Health in a positive, professional, and customer-focused manner. Treats fellow employees and customers in a Fair, Honest, Responsive, and Results-Oriented manner.

  • Performs clinical quality assurance testing of advanced clinical decision support products;

  • Performs clinical quality assurance testing of certain elements of the company’s technology platform;

  • In conjunction with other team members, assesses the criticality and priority of identified issues.

  • Creates fictional test patient records with various characteristics to make sure that the clinical decision support products behave correctly and provide the right advice;

  • Creates test plans to make sure that sufficient test cases are considered;

  • Executes the test plans;

  • Works closely with the Engineering QA team to develop testing automation tools;

  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings;

  • Works closely with the Content and Informatics teams to address any issues uncovered through the testing;

  • Works closely with the Content, Informatics, Product and Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure that project plans incorporate sufficient clinical quality assurance testing.

  • Maintains a close familiarity with applicable products and representations of data on all relevant platforms to help further improve the utility of the content and databases.

  • Develops test cases to facilitate customer implementations and work with other members of the implementation team to ensure smooth customer implementations of our products

  • Supports ongoing departmental operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Clinical degree required

  • Additional master’s degree in biomedical informatics or a related field preferred

Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience with Health IT software (required)

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams (required)

  • Experience working with biomedical vocabularies such as ICD-10-CM, RxNorm, LOINC, and SNOMED (required)

  • Intermediate or higher knowledge of the HL7 FHIR® standard (required)

  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA (required)

  • Intermediate or higher-level familiarity with JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and RESTful web services (preferred)

  • Experience working with healthcare data (e.g., HL7 V2, HL7 FHIR®, EHR data, claims data) (preferred)

  • Experience with analytics tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL queries and databases (preferred)

  • Experience with software development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) (preferred)

  • Experience with clinical data mapping (e.g., HL7 FHIR® to local data model) (preferred)

  • Experience defining technical requirements and writing detailed specifications for testing tools (preferred)
