Summary of Duties: Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, architectural drawings, reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Responsible for electrical building inspections and verification of conformance with the approved plans if required. Review and issue responses to documents submitted for compliance with the Ohio Building Code/Residential Code of Ohio. Conducts on-site inspections of residential and commercial / industrial electrical / utility work. Advises contractors and property owners regarding reasons for non-conformance of construction and electrical installations. Investigates complaints involving code violations. Utilizes Microsoft Word, Access, building software, Excel, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, email, and financial record keeping software. Communicates with the general public, commission office, elected and appointed officials, outside agencies, townships, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to community development; maintains an awareness of new procedures, trends and advances in the profession; participates in continuing education activities; attends meetings, workshops and seminars as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications: • Must possess high school diploma or GED. • Possess an Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI) certification as issued by the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards or have the ability to obtain an ESI certification as issued by the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards within nine months of hire. • Must possess and maintain a valid state of Ohio driver's license, as well as an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy.
