Jacobs Senior Scrum Master in Springfield, Virginia

Your Impact: Jacobs is seeking a Scrum Master to support its NGA client in Springfield VA. As a Senior Scrum Master on GEODS, you will support an exciting National Security mission to position NGA to be the enterprise and community GEOINT data provider, improving the way analysts, customers, and end users access, discover, stage, link, produce, re-integrate, and deliver intelligence. You will work with talented developers and colleagues, gaining exposure to industry best practices such as AWS cloud solutions, continuous integration/delivery, infrastructure as code, and automation of testing of deployments. You will have the opportunity to hone your skills as a Scrum Master through close work with Product Owners and system stakeholders to enable the development teams to make critical enhancements to NGA applications.

Responsibilities:

· Manage multiple talented scrum teams working on critical projects associated with a multi-year IT Transformation program

· Teams strive to follow Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery model

· Work closely and diligently with Product Owners and other stakeholders to better understand their requirements or user stories

· Ensure the Product Owner defines and maintains the Product Backlog

· Facilitate Scrum ceremonies to include, but not limited to: Program Increment Planning at a team level, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.

· Manage scrum boards in Jira to ensure everything is up to date and hold team members responsible for keeping it updated and logging time.

· Track stories and keep stories on track - ensure that stories are properly decomposed into manageable tasks, impediments are voiced timely, team members are not taking abnormal time (given the story points) for any given story.

· Remove impediments so the developers can focus on the work at hand; or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.

· Internal Notes:

· Act as a buffer between the team and process overhead, so each team member can focus on shipping working software/products.

· Gather and process team metrics and KPI’s to support continuous improvement.

· Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization

Here’s What You’ll Need:

· Ability to manage and balance the needs of multiple scrum teams

· Ability to resolve impediments and maintain control over the scrum processes.

· Experience facilitating Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective, and Program Increment Planning meetings for each team.

· Conflict resolution skills, displaying scrum values of openness, honesty and respect.

· Strong communication skills, including ability to discuss technical topics and explain to a wider audience and experience communicating directly with government stakeholders and Product Owners

· Ability to accurately forecast the numbers of deliverables possible in an iteration based on evidence and reliable sources of information

· Ability to perform effective estimation and planning at a Program Increment and Sprint level in order to create useful, reliable and practical plans for software development projects.

· Ability to coach Agile practices. Must be able to coach individuals and interactions over processes and tools.

· Strong Jira experience and skills

· Certified Scrum Master or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification.

· Clearance Required: TS/SCI with CI Poly

· Minimum Education: Master’s degree plus 2 years experience, Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years experience, Associates degree plus 6 years experience, or a minimum of 8 years experience, in relevant field

Preferred:

· Relevant software/hardware training & certification (e.g.; specialties like Amazon Web Services (AWS) developer/engineer)
