The Springfield Family Center is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit with over 50 years experience

working to alleviate hunger and poverty in the communities of Springfield, North Springfield,

and Baltimore. Its mission is to provide help and foster hope for individuals and families by

offering charitable food services, educational programs, and resources for connections to social

services.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager will report to and collaborate closely with the Executive Director (ED).

Responsibilities to include all aspects of daily operations, program administration and human

resources management, while enhancing existing and creating new community partnerships in

support of the Springfield Family Centers mission.

Program/Operations Management

- Responsible for program and organizational planning and implementation.

- Supervise and provide support and direction to agency staff and volunteers, working

closely to strengthen programming and streamline processes across programs.

- Measure performance and improve quality of services in agency programs

- Provide leadership, staff development, and training across programs.

- Regularly review existing services and develop innovative programs as needs emerge.

Identify and implement best practices.

- Assist in organizing and coordination of fundraisers for food shelf and community meals

programs.

- Supervise work readiness program volunteers and collaborate with community partners.

Administration

- Write grants

- Administer grant funded programs.

- Implement data collection systems to streamline reporting on outputs and outcomes in all

program areas.

- Manage program aspects of the annual budget in conjunction with the ED.

Human Resources

- Responsible for the supervision of staff and volunteers

- Responsible for co-hiring/termination, writing performance evaluations

- Facilitate bi-weekly staff meetings and assist in conducting of policies and procedures

Community Partnerships

- Strengthen relationships with service providers to improve service delivery to clients.

- Serve on community committees and boards as directed by the Executive Director.

- Attend community partner meetings and develop community collaborations.

- Provide staff support and guidance to the governing Board of Directors and serve as staff

liaison to relevant subcommittees of the Board.

- Provide programmatic input to the Executive Director in strategic planning.

- Represent the agency at private and public functions as needed.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree/commensurate experience in business management, human services, or

related field preferred

- Demonstrated leadership ability, problem solving, data analysis, personnel management,

and strong people skills. Demonstrated interest in the issue of food insecurity.

- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.

- Ability to adjust to the diverse needs of clients, staff, and community stakeholders

- Ability to exercise independent latitude and judgment while adhering to professional and

ethical standards.

- Ability to multi-task

- Initiative-taking and resourceful; able to w ork independently as well as collaboratively

with clients, staff, and community partners

- Supervisory experience, Familiarity with nonprofit policies and procedures, and

experience in fundraising are all a plus.

- 2 years experience in writing and administering grants fundraising preferred.

- Previous clinical social work experience strongly preferred.

- Collaborator with superior client person centered skills; capacity to engage in critical
