Northwestern Medical Center's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare for our community and we are currently recruiting for a Per-Diem Patient Access Representative opportunity to support patient registration in our Medical Office Building.
EXPECTED HOURS/SHIFT: Per-Diem, variable hours and shifts
As a per-diem team member, you will have no regularly scheduled hours, but will have the opportunity to learn different areas of patient access to pick up shifts based on your availability as needed, to cover team member vacations and sick time.
The Patient Access Representative – Registration performs ambulatory, outpatient, and inpatient registration, payer eligibility, and financial screening functions. Guides hospital users, patients, and families through the registration process. Works to assist patients and families with meeting financial requirements. Estimates and collects point of service payments from patients. Provides exceptional patient focused customer service. Communicates effectively to service area(s) to maximize patient flow and customer service.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Prior customer service experience preferred. Experience in medical office/hospital setting preferred, but not required. basic computer and typing skills required.
Skills: Must be detail oriented, organized, be able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities and prioritize appropriately, have basic math skills to collect money and make change, and have strong communication skills to communicate with people in a professional and tactful manner.
