Northwestern Medical Center Pediatric Hospitalist Physician - per diem in St. Albans, Vermont

JOB SUMMARY:
Northwestern Medical Center is looking for a per-diem board certified pediatrician(s) to help with coverage of inpatient pediatric care from newborn through adolescents. This provider would primarily provide back up call to experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioners including telephone consultation and in-person assistance when clinically indicated. Inpatient pediatric providers are available for Emergency Department Consultation, Pediatric admissions for common diagnosis such as bronchiolitis, asthma exacerbation, volume depletion, IV antibiotics, newborn hyperbilirubinemia, infant failure to thrive, rounding in newborn nursery, and attendance at deliveries when medically indicated.
Our Family Birth Center has earned the prestigious “Baby Friendly” designation, only one of two in the state to achieve that level of excellence focused on supporting new moms and newborns. Our passion is to provide the highest level of care using current research to guide our evidence-based practices. We have a strong relationship with The University of Vermont Medical Center’s neonatal center in Burlington for the rare instance that more specialized care is needed. NMC is a critical access community hospital located in St. Albans, Vermont and averages 375 births/year.
Requirements:
VT License or ability to become VT licensed required. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics required. The ideal candidate will have experience in a NICU, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work cooperatively with physicians, other APPs, nursing, and ancillary staff. NRP and PALS certification are a must.
