Description
Under the direction of the Facilities Operations Manager of Housekeeping and Events, the Facilities Event Support Staff will support the many events and conferences held on campus throughout the year, as well as assist with the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department as required. Assignments may include, but are not limited to: setting up and tearing down for events, preparing indoor and outdoor spaces for events, moving of equipment and supplies, making deliveries, cleaning/prepping areas, and at times backing up the grounds department. This position will require some weekend work, with the occasional Tuesday through Saturday shift as needed.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: (indicate percentage of time in right column – total time must add to 100%)
Support the Office of Events and Conferences in the day-to-day setup for various events and conferences held on campus.
Provide snow shoveling at building entrances and ensure the entrances are clean, safe and well maintained as requested.
Expanded comprehensive duties during summer and/or vacation schedules.
Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
Keep any confidential information in confidence, disclosing only to others who have a need to know for legitimate business or educational reasons. Exercise sound judgment to maintain integrity and confidentiality of information. Violation is grounds for immediate termination.
Confer regularly with immediate supervisor and other department/University personnel to exchange information and resolve problems while maintaining professionalism and positive working relationships.
Maintain acceptable work habits, punctuality, and regularity of attendance to arrive at and leave work on time, observe break and lunch periods.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: (indicate required or preferred)
High school diploma or equivalency preferred
Years of Experience – (required or preferred number of years and in which specific areas)
Preferred previous work experience in a school/college setting, and/or service industry.
Certification and/or Licensure
Possesses a clean and valid driver’s license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to understand and maintain knowledge of proper and safe use of custodial equipment, chemicals, tools and procedures related to building and personal safety.
Able to comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations.
Ability to learn the specific, comprehensive knowledge of campus buildings and recognize safety issues that could affect faculty, staff, students, visitors and self.
Ability to identify, correct and report safety hazards such as broken locks, windows, and lights; icy or slippery walkways and stairways; and other physical hazards.
Knowledge of basic maintenance and repair of custodial and basic maintenance related equipment.
Ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment with changing priorities and interruptions.
Skill to follow-through in carrying out assignments, prioritizing workload to meet daily schedule as assigned; shifting quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity.
Ability to effectively communicate general information to University constituency, relaying complex or adverse information with tact and diplomacy, accepting and rendering constructive criticism in a professional manner.
Ability to provide ‘on-call’ coverage as requested.
Ability to engage in required meaningful and intentional professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility.
