Discover St. Johnsbury is seeking candidates for the position of St. Johnsbury Welcome Center Weekend Staff. This position provides a welcoming and safe atmosphere for visitors and community members using the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center on weekends.
Time commitment: In the winter and early spring the position is on Saturdays only from 10am - 3pm. During the busy tourism season between Memorial Day in May and Indigenous Peoples Day in October, the position increases to include both Saturdays and Sundays, 10am - 3pm, excluding select holidays. Additional hours are possible on an occasional basis to substitute for week-day Welcome Center staff, or during busy event weekends. Occasional week-day meetings will be requested to provide orientation and updates in concert with other Welcome Center staff.
Compensation: This position is hourly (non-exempt) at Vermont minimum wage. Academic credit can be arranged with a degree-granting organization.
Tasks include:
- Open and close the Welcome Center on Saturdays, plus Sundays in the summer & fall.
- Welcome visitors to St. Johnsbury and provide tourism information.
- Maintain Welcome Center displays and brochure inventory.
- Track visitor information by maintaining a log book.
- Process occasional sales of merchandise.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for visitors and community members.
- Monitor supply needs and cleanliness of the Welcome Center.
