This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2 weeks) position located in East St Paul. This is a benefit-eligible position!

Responsibilities Job Description

As a Dispatcher, you will be coordinating transportation to all groups and persons involved in emergency and nonemergency medical response and care. Completes data entry of customer information in CAD system to ensure accurate patient and billing information. Displays high degree of proficiency and consistency in all Communication Center functions.

  • Call intake: Receive calls from multiple sources, including 911 Dispatch Center, Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, patients, Clinics and others. Obtain and accurately enter required information regarding transport requests in a timely manner. Accurately triage and prioritize requests based on policies.

  • Situational awareness: Know and supervise the location and status of all active units as well as current and future system status and requests awaiting service.

  • Dispatching: Coordinate and prioritize transportation utilizing the most appropriate resources for 911 calls, as well as Emergent, Non-emergent and Prescheduled requests. Accurately deploy resources per policies. Manage deployment and system status for greatest efficiency and coverage.

  • Communication Systems: Supervise all radio talk-groups, phone systems and other used methods of communications. Accurately handle all informations and requests from the various communication systems in a timely manner.

  • Multi-tasking: Receive multiple audible and visual inputs simultaneously. Accurately and efficiently prioritize and handle each piece of information received with minimal delay.

  • Geographic knowledge: Be familiar with major roadways, cities, hospital locations, ambulance base locations, and common distance within the metro area. Can read and comprehend maps.

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: High School Diploma

  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher within 3 months of hire (we'll help you obtain this!)

  • CPR Certification (AHA/Red Cross)

Preferred:

  • Experience: 6 months of EMS or Public Safety

  • License / certification / registration: NREMT
