Minnesota Children's Museum Custodian - Full-Time & Part-Time in St. Paul, Minnesota

This Custodian position is responsible for the daily cleaning of all surfaces of the administrative offices and all public spaces in accordance with the established standards to provide an impeccably clean and safe environment for all visitors and staff. This position supports general maintenance activities inside and outside the building. PAY Custodian I (Part Time) - $16.50 per hour Custodian II (Full Time) - $17.50 per hour PAY INCREASES: Employees receive a 0.50 cent pay increase after 6 months of active employment and another 0.50 cent pay increase after 12 months. Additional pay increases will take effect annually following year one of employment and align with hire date. COMMUTER BENEFIT: The benefit is added to the employee's second paycheck of each month. The Custodian I is eligible for a $40 per month stipend to support expenses in commuting to the museum. The Custodian II is eligible for a $60 per month stipend to support expenses in commuting to the museum. SCHEDULE: Morning, afternoon/evening and some weekend availability required. Custodian I (Part Time): Flexibility during weekdays. 20-25 hours/week. Custodian II (Full Time): 40 hours/week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION Daily vacuuming, dusting, mopping, restroom cleaning and restocking, polishing chrome, glass and miscellaneous surfaces, general disinfecting of Museum surfaces and props. Trash removal and general litter pick-up. Respond to accidents, via radio and as directed, including mopping spills, picking up trash and materials in order to provide extraordinary customer service to Museum visitors. High dusting and deep cleaning of public spaces and galleries using apparatus and equipment for carpet shampooing, power scrubbing bathroom and gallery surfaces, pressure washing interior and exterior surfaces as needed. Light lawn and grounds maintenance as directed: trash pick-up, watering plants, snow removal of main entrances. IDEAL CANDIDATE Willingness to learn on the job. Experience working independently and with a team. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent Skill in basic custodial techniques, including mopping, dusting, carpet cleaning, etc. Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials Knowledge of proper safe handling of cleaning chemicals ABOUT MINNESOTA CHILDREN'S MUSEUM Located in downtown St. Paul, MN, we employ 55 full-time and 55 part-time employees and engages variety of volunteers and interns.
