Overview: We are currently seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations for our Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) product lines located in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Global Operations and serve as a key member of the Global Operations MBE and ALDleadership teams.This critical leadership role will be responsible for all manufacturing operations activities inclusive of Operations, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality required to meet production demands. In addition, this role interfaces directly with R&D, NPD/NPI and Sales/Marketing for product introductions to meet cost, quality, and delivery goals. This is a demanding role that requires strategic planning, superb operational execution, and exceptional leadership skills. The Director of Manufacturing Operations will establish a high-quality, continuous improvement culture, apply lean problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, 8-D, value stream mapping, and integrate value engineering/DFM concepts into the Product Life Cycle process to continuously improve the variable cost structure and successfully manage a Low-Volume-High-Mix / Engineer-To-Order portfolio on accelerated timelines. The successful candidate will have the capability to manage multiple concurrent highly technical builds both internally and externally through their team and in concert with the Sales, Service, and R&D teams. The candidate must demonstrate outstanding leadership skills in the development of the team, and cross-functionally. Responsibilities: Direct site Operations P&L responsibility and management of systems and components, production/test, manufacturing, planning, logistics, purchasing, quality, and warehouse functions. Work relationships with Corporate Quality, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain are via a matrix environment. Direct Manufacturing Operations to meet monthly/quarterly/annual financial and output plans. Dynamically adjust capacity to meet customer needs while maintaining budgetary Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) percentage. Establish the annual MBE operations budget and resource plan and determine which builds happen internally or in parallel externally (contract manufacturing). Chair the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for the site and extended portfolio. Support all aspects of new product introductions via the product life cycle managementphase-gate process for release readiness and risk mitigation. Ensure continuing compliance to all quality and safety standards, including maintaining ISO 9001 certification. Developleaders and depth in the operations organization - training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluate strengths / weaknesses and take action to ensure long-term health, productivity, and ahigh-performance culture.Createand execute a succession plan.
