FACILITY BUILDING ENGINEER - ROVING The Lead Engineer provides direction, oversight and support for the Roving Building Engineer team to meet our client's maintenance and facility operation needs. This role is responsible for identifying building mechanical service requirements, performing service tasks, and assisting Property Managers in proving a safe, efficient, clean and comfortable facility environment. Good written and verbal communications are critical for this position in working with owners, property managers, vendors, tenants, and internal staff. The Lead Engineer plays a key role in driving process improvements across all functions of McGough Facility Management's field service team. Qualifications: Required: Education: A.S. or A.A.S. technical degree in HVAC, Facilities Engineering, or comparable training program. Licensing: Valid driver's license. MN 1st Class Boilers License (must be obtained within 90 days of employment) and Universal Refrigeration Certification. Supervisory Experience: minimum 3 years in a leadership role. Administrative Skills: Strong computer skills, proficient in record-keeping, reporting, budgeting, cost control for supplies, materials, equipment, and time tracking, including experience with work order systems. Client and Team Relationships: Skilled in building strong partnerships with clients, tenants, subcontractors, and internal business units. Emergency Support: Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support for building emergency needs. Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills. Professional Development: Commitment to continuous learning of industry standards and technologies Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, fire/life safety systems, and other related building functions. Time Management: Proven ability to handle time constraints, multiple projects, and urgent priorities effectively. Training and Oversight: Capable of performing, training, and supervising building maintenance and engineering staff in all aspects of McGough Facility Management's self-performed work. Preferred Qualifications Certifications: System Maintenance Administrator (SMA), System Maintenance Technician (SMT), or Building Systems Maintenance (SMC) certification, or other relevant professional credentials. Perform and oversee maintenance and repairs for mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, life safety, and control systems. Provide coaching to the team and ensure compliance with applicable standards. Assist Property Managers with administering preventive and periodic maintenance programs, focusing on HVAC, electrical, security systems, and fire alarms. Conduct and document regular property inspections, identifying compliance issues, building concerns, or equipment deficiencies. Ensure corrective measures are taken promptly. Provide 24/7 on-call support for building emergencies, responding swiftl to critical needs. Support Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers with work requests, repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and overall building operations. Provide backup coverage to ensure maintenance and site requirements are met when needed. Lead project work, allocate Technician/Engineer resources, and provide direction to ensure smooth execution. Ensure all self-performed maintenance and engineering tasks are completed on schedule and meet high-quality standards. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely follow-through on all tasks. Maintain strong attention to detail, exhibit excellent organizational skills, and be proficient in computer systems. Growth Opportunities & Property Needs Develop building maintenance, operational, and preventive maintenance plans in collaboration with Facility and Property Managers, identifying service needs and maximizing opportunities for self-performed work. Engage with Facility and Property Managers to foster strong relationships with new and existing clients. Proactively identify repair needs and capital improvement opportunities at managed properties. Strengthen the support provided by Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers through continuous improvement and guidance. Training & Staff Development Actively promote safety awareness and ensure a secure environment for MFM technicians, engineers, and clients. Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain cleanliness in work areas, and uphold OSHA and other relevant code and safety standards. Facilitate team development through staff development plans, enhancing individual and collective capabilities. Follow company policies and procedures and contribute suggestions for improvements. Oversee and provide training in building operations, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems, to ensure optimal efficiency and equipment longevity. Recommend, implement, and advocate for continuous process improvements. Administrative Assist in planning and organizing daily and monthly work schedules, ensuring optimal alignment between workforce capacity and workload demands. Manage general building maintenance and engineering service contracts, ensuring the effective delivery of field services. Oversee the general supervision of roving Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers in collaboration with the Business Operations Manager. Provide support to Facility and Property Managers in addressing building maintenance and engineering requirements. Office and Travel Regular travel between managed properties is required as part of McGough Facility Management's roving Building Engineering and Maintenance team.
