ATTENTION APPLICANTS: This vacancy is being announced for two different job classes at the same time, Labor Relations Consultant 2 and Labor Relations Consultant 1 . The final class and starting salary are dependent on the successful applicant’s qualifications. This posting will be used to fill three vacancies.
This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul. This position will have the flexibility to telecommute, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.
In this position, you will assist and support the Labor Relations manager in administering MnDOT’s labor relations function. This includes, but is not limited to, handling disputes, conducting investigations, and providing direction and training to MnDOT managers and supervisors in the administration of labor agreements. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing guidance and consultation to managers and supervisors regarding employee misconduct and other performance related issues and reviewing and updating HR policies. This position participates on bargaining teams for labor contract negotiations. The position will also have access to and use confidential bargaining strategies and labor relations data as defined in M.S. §13.37.
Occasional (5% of time) travel to MnDOT locations and for bargaining is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Labor Relations Consultant 2:
Three years of advanced professional Labor Relations experience. A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a closely related field substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.
Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying employment laws and labor agreements.
Experience consulting with and advising managers and supervisors on a wide variety of HR issues, including performance management and investigations.
Experience handling discipline and grievances.
Labor Relations Consultant 1:
Three years of professional Labor Relations experience. A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a closely related field substitutes for one year of professional experience professional experience.
Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying employment laws and labor agreements.
Experience consulting with and advising managers and supervisors on a wide variety of HR issues, including performance management and investigations.
Experience handling discipline and grievances.
