Ongoing training and professional development CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Compliance Manager position at our Central Office in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Compliance Manager monitors, advises, audits and reports, and generally serves as a resource to the Compliance Auditing Vendor (CAV) and CommonBond's Housing & Services business line to help ensure complete and timely adherence to all compliance provisions required by lenders, funders, and investors in every CommonBond affiliated and fee-managed property. CBC Compliance Resource Stay abreast of federal, state and local compliance-related regulations applicable to Affiliated and Fee Managed CommonBond properties, including, but not limited to fair housing laws, rulings, and regulations. Apply compliance best practices as documented in CBC Policies and Procedures. Serve as back-up point person for the Compliance Roving Tech team on day-to-day compliance activity questions. Stay abreast of industry best practices for compliance; advise Director of Compliance (DC) on required updates and provide input on potential new policies and/or procedures to lessen burden on site staff and residents while still ensuring full regulatory compliance. Staff Compliance HelpDesk as needed/assigned. Compliance Performance Assigns Roving Compliance Specialists as needed to reduce compliance risk Tracks Roving Compliance Specialist workload and monitors to meet internal deadlines Regularly conduct site visits for compliance related reviews Develop, document and communicate ongoing site adherence to compliance standards Maintain a strong relationship with the vendor, monitoring household certification and audit submissions to ensure timely completion Partner with Compliance Managers in the timing of audits and year-end reporting Minimum Requirements Minimum of 3-4 years of compliance-related affordable housing experience; compliance technician, compliance specialist, or other position which required processing of household paperwork with HUD or Tax Credit programs. Ability to discern requirements of, and implement tools to comply with, local programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly related to layered, technical compliance. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while remaining highly attentive to detail. Demonstrated leadership that values diversity of thought, backgrounds and perspectives. Proficient in Yardi and PC applications, including Rent Cafe, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Microsoft Outlook. Remain knowledgeable of industry best practices, federal, state and local regulations; fair housing laws, rulings, and regulations and advise DC on required updates, providing input on potential new policies and/or procedures ensuring full regulatory compliance. Certifications *Current certification for compliance related to Section 42 - Low-Income Housing Tax Credits r willing to obtain within 90 days. *Certified Occupancy Specialist or willing obtain within 90 days. Physical Requirements *Ability to sit for extended periods of time. *Ability to enter data into a computer. *Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. *Ability to complete large filing projects Working Conditions *Ability to travel independently to properties within the CommonBond service area. *Travel within the portfolio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota will be required.
