HealthPartners Manager, Optical Retail Operations in St. Paul, Minnesota

HealthPartners is hiring for a Manager, Optical Retail Operations. The Manager, Optical Retail Operations provides leadership, direction, organization, and administration of daily operations of assigned business units leading to achievement of targeted outcomes. To meet customer demand and brand standards for optical sales, evaluates and selects product, negotiates pricing and purchasing from vendors and develops profitability strategies. Ensures a return on investment consistent with standards. Works collaboratively with team members, leads, and director to develop the optical buying and merchandising plan. Provides leadership by acting as a role model, special projects manager, trainer, and mentor to new and existing employees. Ensures member and staff satisfaction in support of the mission and goals of HealthPartners for all sites. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: 5+ years buying, merchandising in the optical industry. Experienced in operations of manufacturing and dispensing eyewear. Proven ability to work in sales, cash collection, and computerized environment. Ability to understand, implement and monitor quality of service. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to understand operational and financial parameters and projections and be able to coach others to use that information in planning and management of business units. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Delivers confident, meaningful presentations to meet the needs of any audience. Superior communication skills (verbal, written, graphical, computer). Ability to lead, mentor and motivate employees. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Degree in Business related field 3+ years leadership experience Leadership experience in a union environment Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ABO certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Abilities and knowledge in process improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Manage daily operations for optical retail and the daily activity of staff within the sites. Interviews, hires, and evaluates retail employees; administers staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage is at all sites; Supports staff education by offering training and orientation to department policies and procedures. Completes staff reviews and conducts meetings with staff to grow sales. Assure business unit performance to targets in the specific areas of sales growth, expense management, profit, customer satisfaction, productivity, and staff satisfaction. Develop and implement annual and strategic plans for each specific area of accountability and in alignment with the overall annual and strategic plan. This would include development of project plans, using standardized tools and processes. Using finance models, prepare and analyze reports that will measure the success of product selection & utilization which would include but not be limited to inventory levels, cost of goods and department usage; make necessary improvements. Assist in the development of the budget for the optical retail accounting unit. Prepare annual and strategic forecast, including requests and justification for operating, staff and capital resources to support plans. Recommend profitability strategies ensuring each site has the appropriate inventory matrix and price points. Communicates information about frame selection to the department and optical staff. Educate when new product is introduced. Maintains working knowledge on types of products, and their availability and retail pricing. Work directly with manufacturers and vendors to buy at a price advantage. Make sure that all products are sent back to vendors for credit promptly. Review vendor statements for accuracy of returns and purchases. Partners with application owner to be the subject matter expert for point of sale software. Partners with lab to ensure optimal customer service. Other duties as specified.
