Fairview Health Services Nursing Station Technician- LTAC in St Paul, Minnesota
Overview
M Health Fairview is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (Nursing Assistant/Health Unit coordinator) on the Long-Term Acute Care Hospital unit (LTACH) at the Fairview Health & Wellness Hub in St. Paul, MN! This position is 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks) working 8-hour shifts, on the Day shift (7am-3:30pm) with an every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) rotation and a holiday rotation. About this Unit:
Are you someone who enjoys building strong connections with their patients? This is an inpatient unit where all our patients have had a complicated illness or injury that requires hospital level care for an average of 25-30 days. Many of our patients are more acute than a typical Med/Surg floor. The LTACH is an excellent place to build expertise in handling patients with progressive care issues at varying levels of multi system impairment. The Bethesda LTACH is located in the former St. Joseph’s facility which is now the Fairview Health & Wellness Hub.
Responsibilities Job Description
Work under direction of nursing personnel to deliver patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator. Duties may include: patient cares, vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit. May work as a patient care attendant.
Performs delegated nursing functions to assigned patients including personal care, ambulation, exercise, nutrition, specimen collection and vital signs
Observes patients and reports any changes in status to appropriate staff
Performs special procedures (eg: skin care) as defined by patient care unit practice guidelines
Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team
Performs environmental and other responsibilities as assigned
Maintains the medical record
Schedules patient tests and procedures
Maintains unit communication systems and central desk area
Receives all patients, family members, visitors and other members of the health team
Maintains unit stock/supplies/equipment
Participates in staff development
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
Fulfills all organizational requirement
Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
· Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
AND
· Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
OR
· Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
OR
· Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
OR
· Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
