The Minnesota Rare Disease Council is looking for their next Programs Manager! This position will collaborate with stakeholders and monitor the progress of various program initiatives that improve systems designed to meet the needs of individuals living with a rare disease throughout Minnesota. In this role, an individual will be responsible for independently coordinating and monitoring projects and initiatives, as well as assisting in the development of plans for new programs to ensure that the Council is executing on its mission of improving care for individuals with rare diseases.
Please note this is currently a temporary full-time position with a current expected end date of June 30, 2025, but may be converted to permanent full time depending on future approved funding for the position.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience working in state government and/or private non-profit organizations in the healthcare field.
Applicants who meet the above will be further assessed on the following:
Ability to work with a variety of federal, state, and local community agencies in the development of coordinated long-range planning programs related to RDAC.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, planning groups, advocacy groups, and other human services professionals serving rare disease populations.
Ability to work with task forces to facilitate decision making and to ensure that appropriate process is followed.
Ability to develop ideas and recommendations and present them effectively to a wide range of groups and individuals verbally and in writing.
An associate's degree or higher in public policy, public administration, business administration, communications or a related degree may substitute for six months of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge or experience of the barriers, issues, and areas of importance regarding individuals living with rare diseases.
Lived or professional experience of rare diseases.
Diplomacy and creative problem-solving skills to lead effective conversations and recommend solutions to complex problems.
Experience working with marginalized communities and understanding the concepts of intersectionality.
Knowledge or experience with health access and improved patient care principles.
