This Engineering Supervisor provides effective supervision within Facilities Engineering through providing staff direction, day-to-day support and managing operations. This position is responsible for administering the Utility and Energy Management programs and assists with administration of Facility Management Programs. The Engineering Supervisor ensures function of building systems and facility equipment for continuous operations of Gillette facilities and provides technical expertise on facility projects and coordinates facility maintenance projects. This position is involved in improving and generating process improvements, as well as developing a competency training programs for all Facilities Engineering staff. Supports EOC and Gillette leadership to ensure that the EOC Department can develop and manage staff who are able to provide a high quality, safe, sanitary facility that complies with regulatory requirements and reduces risks to patients and families.

This is an onsite based position, primarily located in St. Paul, MN. Travel to Gillette's metro area clinics and periodic travel to greater MN area clinics is required.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $84,156/annually to $126,235/annually, with a median salary of $105,196/annually. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Effectively supervise the day-to-day operations of the engineering staff.

  • Schedules employees to maintain coverage for assigned shift and directs workload distribution at multiple work sites.

  • Project work is assigned to meet preventive maintenance schedule and building system or equipment maintenance requirements are identified and schedules established to maintain quality of building function and appearance.

  • Assures that supplies/equipment purchases meet department timelines and manager’s approval.

  • Position responsibilities include approval of Regions Hospital or subcontractor and vendor work requests. Problems with the work completed are addressed and objectives, including quality and safety are met.

  • Timely evaluation of employees, following the criteria-based performance appraisal

  • Train employees on building systems and equipment, new technologies, procedural changes, or changes to process. Confirmation of training effectiveness occurs.

  • Ensures the facility engineering staff is providing friendly customer service in the hospital atmosphere. All work should be completed with a desire to limit disruption to patient care or the patient experience.

Responsible for continuous quality control through service.

  • Perform preventive maintenance work as needed and maintain documentation. Utilizes facilities management software (CMMS) to document and trend to build a facilities management program. Ensure timely completion of work through facilities management software and ensures customer satisfaction with work completed.

  • Monitor and adjust facilities, utility, energy systems for all campus buildings. Recommends upgrades/replacements for systems.

  • Ensures critical systems and equipment functions and completion of repairs to including but not limited to, HVAC systems, emergency generators, swimming/therapy pool operation, MRI cooling systems and meets Gillette and regulatory standards.

  • Works with engineering staff and with Regions, Health Partners and all facility landlords to ensure safe operation of key utilities and infrastructure systems including but not limited to; steam, chilled water, hot water, domestic water and sewer systems, nurse call, HVAC, AHU’s, RTU’s monitoring systems, safety and security systems.

  • Consistently completes all assigned tasks without sacrificing quality of work. Holds staff accountable for their quality through routine monitoring of performance.

  • Manages key control/lock replacement and repair at all sites. Assists Regions security in key control/lock replacement at 200 site.

  • Works with environmental services, facilities management, emergency management and safety to ensure timely follow up on issues that arise within EOC and also assist in effective project build out to effectively and efficiently maintain projects once completed. Works to develop and maintain facilities standards and requirements.

  • Ability to rotate in on-call after hours schedule as needed.

Responsible for continuous quality improvement through effective management.

  • Identifies new vendors or services for issues relating to building systems or maintenance requirements. Provides oversight for work accomplished.

  • Quality assurance tours and documentation accurately identify department concerns/expectations. Makes suggestions for improving service or techniques.

  • Routine discussions of concerns addressed with staff. Appropriate disciplinary procedures occur with staff when required.

  • Documentation required by Manager is submitted in a timely fashion. Meeting attendance/follow through on assignments is appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent

  • Five years’ facilities engineering and/or maintenance experience

  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Familiarity with operating and maintenance requirements of building systems and equipment

  • Familiarity with infection control techniques

  • Ability to train and educate staff

  • Ability to response to emergency situations

  • Experience with HVAC equipment (operations / maintenance)

  • Some knowledge of the healthcare environment

  • Proficient in reading and verifying electrical, pneumatic and mechanical schematics/drawings

  • Ability to understand detailed maintenance/service instructions

  • Ability to analyze statistical data from building automation system and facilities management software.

  • Understands basic budgeting and procurement strategies

  • Good oral and written and communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to effectively work in and lead teams

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred

  • 3 years of supervisory experience

  • Certified Pool Operators License

  • MN State Boilers License
