WATTS Senior EHS Engineer in St Pauls, North Carolina

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and related regulations, including Watts Water policies and procedures. Plans, develops, administers, and manages organization safety policies, programs and training. Manages the maintenance of records on accidents and prepares appropriate reports. Audits facility and operations and investigates accidents. Recommends and/or initiates changes to mitigate hazard and repeat accidents. Responsible for plant and office physical security. Conduct or oversee training for personnel on safety, health and environmental issues. Provides advice on safety and protection, and carries out audits to ensure that organization and government standards on environment, health and safety are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide EHS support for the operations in Spindale, NC and St. Pauls, NC

  • Manage EHS compliance programs in accordance with Federal, state and local regulations

  • Along with facility team, interface with regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA plus state/local regulatory agencies (e.g. NCDENR, SCDHEC)

  • Provide EHS training (i.e., RCRA, HAZCOM, Lockout/Tagout, Forklift, PPE, etc)

  • Coordinate and/or undertake environmental monitoring (air, water, storm water, lead and waste management)

  • Develop written procedures and conduct safety and environmental assessments

  • Undertake permitting and associated deliverables management

  • Conduct safety inspections, environmental audits and corrective action planning

  • Leads the investigation of all accidents and incidents

  • Assists the Human Resources Department in worker’s compensation initiatives

  • Maintains EHS files and records to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS policies and regulations

  • Interface with facility management and the Corporate EHS Department

  • Interface with Corporate EHS Dept

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree

MANAGEMENT:

  • Ensure company policies are followed

  • Enforce company safety policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of related experience

  • Excellent working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations (i.e., EPCRA, CAA, CWA, SPCC, etc.)

  • Knowledge of proper protocol for exposure monitoring

  • Experience in accident investigation, analysis and corrective action planning

  • Ability to influence and interact effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Project and cost management skills

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
