Gift Planner for Athletics Advancement Description JOB SUMMARY: Gift Planners in the Office of Advancement work as an integrated team of diversely talented fundraising professionals to cultivate, solicit, and secure major and planned gifts for the College. The Gift Planner for Athletics will focus on securing major gifts through personal cultivation and solicitation in support of the Gustavus G Club, 20+ varsity athletic teams and club sports, team endowments, and the Lund Center athletics and wellness facility. Employment Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, and Exempt (Salaried) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to the Associate Vice President for Advancement; works closely and collaboratively with the Vice President and all members of the gift planning staff; coordinates with the Directors of Athletics, team coaches, Athletics Leadership Council, and more. Identifies and conducts face-to-face solicitations of philanthropic support for Gustavus Athletics and Gustavus Adolphus College as a whole, focusing on multi-year pledges and planned gifts. Through fundraising success, participates in the implementation of the strategic plans for the College. Spends at least 60% of one's time traveling and meeting in the field with prospective donors; half of this time may be spent traveling outside of the Twin Cities region; participates in the Office of Advancement's mutual accountability prospect management process. Works closely and collaboratively with all members of the Advancement staff, the President and executive staff, members of the Board of Trustees, senior college administrators, the Athletics Department, and faculty to accomplish fundraising goals. Provides primary leadership for developing and carrying out the fundraising efforts in select strategic market regions and supports the constituents associated with those regions. Works with colleagues to develop and implement successful gift planning marketing, education, recognition, and stewardship programs; and participates in growing the membership of the College's recognition societies; coordinates through a donor-by-donor basis with other individual Gift Planners to facilitate maximum athletics giving and cultivation efforts. Participates in developing a corporate athletics sponsorship program. Advances in professional expertise; participates in professional organizations and attends pertinent local, regional, and national continuing education meetings as the budget allows. All other duties as assigned. Prerequisites MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s degree in related field. Minimum of three years direct or related fundraising experience. Demonstrated experience in carrying out annual, capital and/or comprehensive fundraising campaigns, and meeting annual goals. Demonstrated success in effectively leading and managing volunteers for fundraising, while working as an effective and collaborative member of a team. Experience with and commitment to the mission of a church-related liberal arts college. Experience with and commitment to the mission of intercollegiate undergraduate athletics, good sportsmanship, and co-curricular involvements. Demonstrated technical understanding of personal, proposal-driven major gift solicitation. Demonstrated success in working independently and collaboratively remotely and in person with a thorough understanding of dashboard management practices. Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills; must be a good writer. High level of initiative and resourcefulness being results-oriented. Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with constituents. Must maintain high levels of confidentiality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced degree in a discipline related to the field. 3 to 5 years of direct portfolio-based fundraising experience, especially cultivating, soliciting, and closing outright major and planned gifts. Working Environment: Must be able to work extended hours during the week and occasionally weekends. S me travel required.
