Internship Program Overview

To be eligible for the summer 2025 internship program, you must be a junior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree with a graduate date of May 2026. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company need.

Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.

Department Overview

Asset Management Services (AMS) helps serve the sophisticated needs of Raymond James clients with a variety of institutional-grade platforms, strategies, and hands-on support. AMS helps our advisors simplify the investment management equation so that they can use their time to build their client relationships. The AMS Summer Program is a partner program within our firm-wide Internship Development Program (IDP). This summer program allows a deeper dive into the different functionalities within our AMS department: Advisory Consulting, Sales, Operations, and Administration. While this is not rotational, the interns will have the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple AMS divisions and have personalized collaboration with senior-level leaders across AMS.

Job Summary

As part of the AMS Research team, the Research Intern's responsibilities may include assisting with building and analyzing models used in the AMS investment process. Working closely with other analysts on creating efficiencies in the investment process via innovative portfolio optimization, financial modeling, and process improvement techniques. Developing creative and interactive visualizations and assisting in interpreting output which is used to make crucial portfolio-level decisions. Handling complex problems with guidance or independently. Making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of data.

Internship Length: 10 weeks

Start Date: June 2, 2025

End Date: August 8, 2025

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solve problems using scripting languages (SQL, Python, R, etc.).

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets using statistical techniques

  • Build, enhance and maintain a database including data pipelines

  • Utilize visualization techniques to display data and the results of analysis in clear and straightforward presentations

  • Utilize automation and process improvement techniques to alleviate traditionally manual tasks

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of –

  • Statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets

  • Database design

  • Maintaining and creating data pipelines and ETL procedures

  • Visualization/reporting software packages such as StreamLit, Tableau, Qlikview, or Power BI.

  • Web development concepts

  • Financial markets and investment vehicles.

Skill in –

  • Developing and scripting in languages such as SQL, Python, etc.

  • Using Python data libraries like pandas, numpy, and polars

  • Django web framework

  • Using ORMs (SQL Alchemy's ORM and/or Django's ORM)

  • Quantitative modeling.

Ability to –

  • Produce accurate information

  • Learn, required software applications.

  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Exhibit excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Promote team cohesiveness, cooperation and effectiveness.

Educational/ Previous Experience Requirements

  • Junior standing pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, business, finance, or related field.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

  • None required.
