NiSource M&R Technician 1/2/3 in State College, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

This position is part of the M&R Technician job family and includes a natural progression to M&R Technician 3 after two years in the M&R Technician 2 job level.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains proper regulation with regard to MAOP

  • Maintains measurement and regulation facilities within a determined territory

  • Assist or work independently, under certain conditions, to complete fieldwork such as inspections, troubleshooting or construction of M&R facilities

  • Compiles, prepares, verifies, updates and maintains accurate written measurement and regulation documentation and records D.O.T., station drawings, accuracy test and inspection reports, calibrations, job orders, etc.

  • Performs scheduled maintenance on Large Volume accounts

  • Provides assistance to area offices regarding fixed factor accounts

  • Recommend solutions or best practices related to M&R opportunities or deficiencies

  • Remain current of Pipeline Safety Compliance policies, procedures and standards

  • Keep current of the latest technologies and practices related to M&R

  • Provides backup services to other technicians

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Required Qualifications For Position

  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a plant and/or service technician

  • Experience with PC and various software packages

  • Successful completion of M&R course curriculum

  • Successful completion of M&R Progression Test

  • Requires a strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with the use and care of hand tools

  • Demonstrated ability to stay on task, to manage workload independently, and to follow through on assignments with little to no direct supervision

  • Knowledge of MAOP guidelines

  • Must be able to recognize and properly react to abnormal operating conditions

  • Demonstrated safety excellence

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various individuals and functions across the organization

  • Must be able to understand and apply technical literature to situations encountered on the job

  • Must be detail-oriented, with strong communications (oral and written) skills, and ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and success in providing extraordinary customer service, particularly in situations where tact and diplomacy are needed

  • Must be able to respond to emergency calls and work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime at the applicable overtime rate. Please note that hours during training may be different than posted.

  • To serve customers' needs, it may be necessary for incumbent to work a schedule or work location other than posted on a temporary basis to provide coverage during vacations/training.

  • Working knowledge of electronics

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Working knowledge of mainframe programs, such as WMS and DIS

  • Knowledge of pressure systems and how they work

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to measurement and regulation.

  • Knowledge of instrumentation e.g. EFC, odorizers, gas analyzers and SCADA equipment

  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas operations in gas flow, construction and emergency response.

  • Knowledge in the use of transmitters used for pressure, temperature and flow measurement; pneumatic controllers; electronic flow computers; electronic pressure recorders; heater controls; odorization controls

  • Must living within 45 minutes of the State College PA- Mod Site (2550 Carolean Industrial Drive State College, PA 16801) within 6 months of employment.

  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State and be able to operate company vehicles. Will be responsible for keeping assigned vehicle clean and properly maintained Upon Hire

  • Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Five or more years of experience as a plant and/or service technician

  • Experience working in large volume service and/or regulation

$47.84 - $53.28
